It’s terrible when Cabelas has things 50% off. Not too of the line, but a big improvement over the old Tasco, from what I can tell so far.
Once upon a time, the saying was, "If it has George Herter's name on it, you did good). A number of years ago he started importing scopes from a number of companies in a number of different countries. I've not heard anything especially derogatory about them or anything that should disqualify them from consideration.
Herter's scopes have been used on every continent to hunt probably every type of game.
Looks like this one may have been imported from a French Language Country.
"Shooting Glass".
As long as it holds a zero, doesn't fog up and has clear optics........
Glass seems very clear. Eye relief is excellent, about twice that of the Tasco.
I found what you are saying when I was looking up info. The older Herter’s stuff was quite good, newer stuff is imported. I couldn’t find a lot on this particular scope, but the reviews on Cabelas were good. Worth a shot for $40.

I have a Recurve Bow that I purchased from Herter's when I was a boy..... about 1963. Fantastic quality !!
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Just got back from the farm. Further comments about that could be incriminating so I shall plead the 5th at this point.

Jim that like a good plan.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 30° but dry at the moment. Supposed to get some snow this afternoon.
Been up all night, going to try to sneak off for a nap.
Morning all. 29 here with about an inch of snow on the ground. Glad I had my boat winterized and serviced a bit back as it has stayed pretty cold here for the last few days. Being a newcomer to the area, asked around a bit and was directed to Powers. Seemed like good folks. Got to get the trailer ready heading over to the Crab and Wine festival on Thursday snow better Clear off. Went shopping for tire chains yesterday at Les S they had two types in my size, the regular chains for $135 and easy on ones for about the same price. On my Tacoma I have Rud 4x4 grips and like them pretty well. Last time I bought regular chains it was Weed and Cample guy at the tire shop had not heard of either. Was not keen on getting Chinese made chains.
