Budget LED headlights
#181
Received my beamtech headlights & fogs today! Took less then an hour to swap. Driver side washer nozzle removed and air snorkel out on passenger side. Passenger side pretty easy and plenty of room. Driver side a bit tight and more tricky. Not sure why but I had a harder time getting the top drivers side to twist out. All works and all I can say is wow! Having HIDs on my 14 f150 and LED's in my 16 F150 I knew the yellow halogens wouldn't work. Truck is a week old tomorrow!! Ha!

So I know with the fogs I would only need 1 set. Assuming these are the correct ones for the headlights

Do you need 1 or 2 "sets"?

Yes, but you can put in other numbers. I did 9145's (H10) for fogs. As explained by someone on another post, 9140=40 watts. 9145=45 watts. Bulbs have the same base and are a fit. I probably would have tried a 9155 if I'd known at the time.
A cross reference in the Amazon listing for my bulbs shows them as replacements for 9040, 9045, 9140, 9145, 9050, 9055, 9155, H10 & PY20D.

Has anyone done an LED conversion on the rest of the lights? I'm trying to find bulbs that fit and work in our trucks, preferably from the same company, to replace the regular bulbs in a Lariat. Some are regular, others are LED. I want them all LED and not have hyper flash or radio problems. Some LEDs are cheap and flicker, come DOA, are too bright or not bright enough. I've only used OPT7 and a cheapo brand from Kmart previously, both worked well however.

Thank you Poncho et al.
I installed the Beamtech headlights and went ahead with full LEDs all around. About $200 spent but well worth it in my opinion. Used FORScan to fix the hyperflash. The difference is really remarkable. I was driving around tonight noticing that not only is the light much brighter, but the beam pattern is actually much better too. I had to adjust my headlights to point lower. When I first put them in, low was straight forward (should be slightly down) and high was in the trees. After adjusting them slightly, they are perfect. Some people commented that the highs didn’t seem much better. If this is the case, I suspect you need to adjust them. Also, learn from my mistake: I got the white led W5W bulb for the front side marker. That bluish LED shining through the yellow reflector doesn’t match the rest of the yellows on the truck. It looks almost greenish. I’ve got some yellow W5Ws on order now. I got the Auxbeam reverse lights and they are insanely bright. Love it. I’m not sure if I’ll keep the front turn signal switchbacks or if I’ll go to all amber. Overall a great investment in my opinion. Thanks everyone.

The brake lights work fine with the white leds. I’m sure red leds would work also but the white leds through red lenses match the stock CHMSL. When I say switchbacks, I mean the white/yellow dual colored front turn signal replacement bulbs. Stock is all amber. I got the dual color and I’m not sure if I like it or not.

• Alla 9145 fog lights
• SuperBright red tail/brake light bulbs
• Some Amazon generic T10/194 for the license plate lights
• Alla switchback for front signal/parking lights. (White when in the running or parking lamp mode, they flash amber when using the turn signals)
• Headlight Revolution reverse lights
• SuperBright front side marker lights
• The truck had factory LED for cab marker and 3rd brake/cargo lights.
I killed the hyperflash with FORScan after replacing the signal lights. There are 2 individual spots for front & rear to edit.
I wasn't concerned about all being the same brand, as I didn't do it as an all in one project. I also discovered that sometimes the lower priced or off brands do the same job as more expensive alternatives.
As far as colors, SuperBright's website and their email support people recommend using the same color LED bulb as the lens it will work with.
