Yet another thing CA f'd up - the vaccination "plan"; which there wasn't one really. Just have all the Counties handle it... Yeah, right... Now we've added another layer of red tape: a managing layer that will insure that the homeless, incarcerated, under served, or you name it, get vaccinated before someone who pays taxes and votes. I really don't get this State - we just want to show everyone how compassionate we are?! How about us that pay for everything... <rant off>

I'm hoping to get the Pfizer myself, some day...

NJ has been a mess too. It's not like the State didn't have a fair warning the vaccines were coming. The state is doing some scheduling (I'm still waiting), the counties (I'm still waiting), and by hospital groups (I'm still waiting) and pharmacies. A Facebook group has been set up that I'm a member of to give information and groups associated with who help seniors get a vaccine. It's an incredible mess. People are staying up past midnight and logging in at 5 am to try to get a slot.

The link. https://www.facebook.com/groups/891546924927251

The story: https://www.wsj.com/articles/tech-ti...re-11614594600

I initially spend 4 days, basically all day, trying to find an appointment. I set up 3 windows on the computer to watch, auto-fill and auto-refresh and try to catch something for Les initially. It was mentioned Walmart was opening for 75+, but you had to call, ignore they were not taking an appointment, dial to speak to a pharmacist, then you could get one. It worked, got Les in.

I tried then for me for two days, mostly working on the byzantine site for Rite-Aid. Two windows, playing Whack-a-Mole. I gave up. I switched to CVS, but you looked at NJ, and it showed no appointments available. So you look to Florida, numerous available, then start logging in. After that, you can put in NJ and then start hunting through the site for time slots to open up. When you find one, you can lock it in.

The people who are helping on the FB site have grabbed hundreds of slots for the seniors. I honestly got lucky, my skills are better than many, but not the Mad skills of some of these people who have gotten openings for the elderly.

It is a mess in Canada as well but of a different nature-getting enough vaccines. They had listed on the CBC news that at the speed arms are getting stabbed we will have herd immunity by July 2023. There is promise that we will receive more vaccines soon. I did get my elderly Mom & Dad an appointment for March 16 at least.

The wife and I have decided not to get the vaccine, we are not people that like taking or being injected with medicines.

I hope that you atr on the list of people that want to recall Gas-bag Newsom.

I would really like to see a recall of Jay Inslee. He is a total dork and would
not know science if it hit him in the face with a trash-bag from the ISS.

I typically do not get vaccines. Not flu, or others. Especially after my Levaquin reaction. But through my wife's salon, there have been too many deaths compared to normal.

Wow Jack, talk about gambling with your health. There are way too many questionable things about this "vaccine" for my comfort level.

I can understand a bit of resistance to taking the shots, I may have even felt that way myself until my wife caught it. She had a bad enough case that the doctors were telling me that they didn't have much hope of her pulling through. Scary stuff, enough so that I was walking around in a daze for 15 days, wondering what and how I'd do without her. Then, naturally, I tested positive while she was in the hospital, which compounded all the worries because I was under quarantine and all I could do was sit around the house and worry, unable to do anything else. I lost 15 pounds in two weeks from not eating. The only salvation I had was through phone calls with the other nurses at the hospital passing messages back and forth to and from her.
Then thanks to God and modern medicine, she pulled through but it took her 45 days to even approach getting back to normal after she was released from the hospital. My case turned out to be no worse than a nasty cold and I only felt bad for a few days and I tested negative three weeks after my initial positive test.
Since my wife is a nurse, she was offered the vaccine from the first batch the county received - I was standing by in case there happened to be any left after the other medical workers got their shot and got lucky, they had three vials with doses remaining. 28 days later, we got our second shots. There was no doubt in my mind that if I could get a shot, I'd take it, any reservations about it be damned.

Just like the rest of the nation, I felt sorry for those who got infected and especially those who died from COVID and their families, but it gets real close up and personal when it's a loved one going through that. I went through two weeks of hell thinking there was a good chance when I left the hospital when my wife tested positive that she'd never come home. Believe me, I wouldn't wish that agony on anyone.

I know your anxiety, dealing with my mother. I'm sorry you went through that. In Jersey, all household family members of people working in the medical industry were able to get the first shots. Our son and grandaughter coattailed the others, granddaughter and grandson.

We've seen the same situation within the salon's circle of "family. Some get it, and it's a mild cold, while it borders on or becomes fatal for others. I have diabetes and high blood pressure, and I get bronchitis and phenomena easily due to my lungs, probably hurt from my bad reaction to the hardener used in paints I had from when I was in my mid-20s. I'm enough of a hermit and follow protocols that I may have been able to miss an infection. Leslie is 77 and overweight with high blood pressure only. If Les weren't actively working, we probably would have stayed under the radar and waited this out. She has a good system in place, but the one potential set a new goalpost.

Some will argue the stats are normal flu based because flu cases are very low. If you want to have low flu transmission, you would keep socially distanced, wear masks, and wash your hand frequently, as many are doing. So for me, it's no surprise the reports of flu infection are low.

Others say the death rate is conflated with other fatal situations. Look at your state's records for "ALL CAUSE MORTALITY," which includes everything by its title. So a five-year comparison. 2018 was a bad flu season for NJ. 2021; so far, January was the peak, weeks after Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, but only 1/3 of what was seen last spring. I expect that will be our 2021 hump. Murphy did a good job of wiping out the assisted living and nursing home residents last spring, like Cuomo.

If there's anything I take out of the NJ data, its that I can't wait for strong sunshine. Although that trend doesn't follow other states.

It's always in the last place you look for 99.99% of people.
What I can't tell you is what that 0.001% are doing after they find it.

All of those I take normally, and why I thought I may have been able to wait it out.

It's a weird disease, how some are and some are not affected. Les just went through a bad day yesterday. One of her employees' husband who works in a dealership, the store had three reported cases, so Les and all her employees got the Rapid test (for the second time in a month). So the salon was shut down yesterday, and Les fell asleep early - tense day.

That 0.001% buy a new expensive key.

it effects people differently , some just have mild to no symptoms, others is a death bed , The Immune system is key , my father in law has triple heart by pass , bad lungs from the steel mill and welding , his immune system is very low , but Csalt kick with the Zinc saved his life , well along with me getting him up and moving more , it did take a few weeks before his taste for food came back , slowly getting him back to weight and ensure has helped with that too, sorry to here about les and the business, lots of shops closed permanently, sad to say the least .as a contractor I’m finding people want champagne on a beer budget , it’s hard to believe some contractors are swamped or are they taking cuts in pay to stay busy , I’ve been trying that too , it’s not working well , I need to find the address for the guy that bought the hog hauler , the key has a salmon egg smell with a hint of Redman tobacco, I think a fake worm melted an the key fob slightly , that’s the least of that guys worry’s , keeping that truck from breaking the bank should be on his mind .
