I haven't had a break in at my shop yet but am seriously considering cameras. I have had our vehicles broken to several times over the years and usually it is a phone charger, change and sunglasses being stolen.
Hartwig-Weapons are becoming a lot more regulated here in Canada with each passing year as well. Handguns are restricted to only being allowed at a gun club and then stored back at home, no carry permits ever.

The house, shed, and equipment (3 trailers, bulldozer, three 4 wheel tractors, three 2 wheel tractors, irrigation pipe, and pump house have been covered by hard wired cameras for a half-dozen years. Just the appearance of cameras there seemed to have prevented more issues - they are visible. Oh, and one of the '66 GT-350's is parked there.
Eighteen acres total, half farmed. The back is a wetland forest with a white cedar stand. The property to the north (left) was my aunt's, an old cranberry bog with some blueberry field, all overgrown. So the only way to come through the back is over the dykes, which are easy to set up with a camera. The same is true from my aunt's old house, another set of dykes - I don't know who those renters are. These trees were taken off the driveway, but they had to go past a gate or from the house next door. Once global warming takes effect, it will be beachfront.
It a tough property to fully canvass since I don't live there. When selling trees in the front, I have camera's up covering that area. It's a four-foot fence, and I've had people go around it; the stonework business has only a three-foot fence there. But as Pete knows, it's an old pirate town. Arggh.
It's stealing Christmas trees that really gets to me. I may post about the theft on the farm's Facebook page ... don't know yet.

You need to let us know how that stuff works - you were the one that originally turned me on to the TomCat Meal Bait, which works Very Well. I have a ton of bounce towels tied all over the 6.0's and the new F150's engine bays, I've also bought a bunch of those electric zapper traps and have zapped several rats - especially early on, but now get only a mouse here and there. I tried peppermint extract and a couple other rodent repellents, and none of them seemed to work. I'm sure there has been collateral damage with the meal bait: birds, squirrels, etc. but I think the rats are under control (or that's what they want me to think!) - they are smart little suckers: once they figure out what is killing them, they cover the entrance to the bait stations with leaves.Best of luck for more $$s in the new year!
Scott
Thanks Scott the meal bait is working at the barn , I think the war moved closer to the house , had some evidence in the front garage along with a possum, the cat gets fed in there so I leave the door up a bit so she can go in , only during the day , at dark I close it down , Tom cat products are the only things that work besides snap traps , Happier new year gents

I got some carb parts for my Briggs 16 Twin I have to clean out (again from the gas). Critical parts IMO, so I buy through a Briggs affiliate rather than Amazon or eBay to make sure they are genuine; the carb is a Nikki.
All bags are USA or Japan.
We both were going to hold out until late April, but a client was booking an appointment at Les' salon and off the cuff said she needed a break from taking care of her husband with Covid. She would have been stopped at the locked entrance door with the questions Les has in place for entering, but Les was taken aback that someone would even do that. And then the mind drifts, what if they lie....
