Logging out and back in fixed it. I don’t care much for the mobile version but got stuck in it somehow. All is right with the world again

I wish that worked with everything. However, I can't remember if I did that with a past life.

Haven’t logged in here in a while - bought a house in Germany and been going back every weekend to fix it up, truck running perfectly. House is in the Eifel and caught some rain last week - look for pictures of Schuld and Bad Munstereifel to see how much. House is not far from them and the river got to one inch below front door level, 2 inches above neighbors door, so they had some cleaning up to do. I had some wood in the garage- river opened the garage door, opened the garden gate, and removed all the wood without any damage. The previous weekend I hired a digger to put in a trench for the new gas pipe - got to dig the mud out of that again by hand and put more sand down. At least the roof passed the soak test with flying colors.
In every village there are huge piles of furniture and possessions, all water or sewage damaged. In our village the railway lines were left hanging in the air after the ballast was washed away, except for where a Mercedes van got pushed underneath them.
telephone lines and some mobile phone masts got disrupted so cash is king, but food was still getting delivered.
Just in Euskirchen where I used to work there were 27 deaths, it was quite a 24hrs. Here in northern France it rained nonstop a few days and the cellar pump was working hard over 3 nights, but no damage. Now good weather expected so I cut some hay on Monday, hope to bale and get it in on Friday.

So sorry to hear of your personal experience so close to this - we have our power outages, earthquakes and wildfires (and drought), but so far, knock on wood, nothing quite like you've been through...

Hoping for the best for you and those around you - and Don't Bale the Hay wet! That was a weak bit of humor between hay folks...

Noting like seeing a big pile of hay sitting on the side of I-90 that is smoking where the truck hauling it dumped it.

Good to hear your OK after that mess. Stay safe and dry.

Hello Euroman,
nice to read from you. We have also donated for the flood people.
What makes me angry are our "politicians" who do not get it organized to help the people immediately. The people helped themselves and immediately. The "politicians" are only after days there in their luxury limousines appeared to make the people promises. 300-400 million € are supposedly available as aid, that is far too less. We spend billions for illegal people and throw billions out of the window for foreign countries. For the own people remains the tip, a shame for Germany and a punch in the face for the victims.
Volunteers are sent away because the people in command are too stupid to coordinate the help. I live about 100km away, our local fire department went there to help and was sent home after one day....

Hartwig, welcome to the USA.

Euroman, sorry to see that happen. Know it too well from living on a Nor-Easter and hurricane coast.

After the Houston Flood there were volunteers that pulled their boats to the area from all over the country and assisted with the rescues, they didn't need the government to mobilize an effort, they did it.

With all of the bad media coverage in our country right now concerning group vs group, in the end when something happens, people of all backgrounds pull together to help one another.

There's been a lot of self-help. It's farming country so all the farmers have been helping locally, and if anyone not local wants to help they drive to the Nürburgring and get tasked from there. There's been lots of talk about not enough being done to prepare for such a flood but this is the worst that's hit for maybe 100-150 years, and nobody likes paying taxes for something that might not happen in your own lifetime. Also, there's not been much looting and there's a big police presence to make sure it stays that way.
Like Hartwig says, you can tell there's an election in Germany this September, they've all been visiting, and the Greens are trying to make out the flooding is due to climate change, but its not been as bad as some of the floods of 700 years ago.

An interesting evening. Starting in the afternoon, NJ had 10 tornado warnings. I'm used to hearing of maybe one every two or three years.

It is fun. 5speed is taking a lot of my attention lol. When I sold my Jeep I figured that was my last manual trans but it’s appropriate in this car. Unfortunately, not a real Steeda, the guy before me was a Ford Dealer Tech and put a few of their parts on it. I do like the Boss stripe kit a lot. Not many of them in my area. Straight piped with no cats! Too loud for a grown man, I gotta get some mufflers on it quick.

Sure Benny! I’ve cruised by your shop 3 or 4 times the last few months but didn’t see anybody home. Hope you’re doing well!
