Truck runs really well just have to replace a couple o rings on fuel bowl. One question I do have is what is the deal with when it starts I see what's in this picture? It goes away within 30-45 seconds of startup but my bosses truck does not do it. His also has a busted exhaust. It has been cool and damp here though so I don't know if that's it.
In either case is it forewarning of a major issue, or a simple solution? I couldn't tell if it was white or gray. My bosses 6.0 does it as well and it has a new exhaust and was just in the diesel shop.
Mine does it when cold, the colder it is the more smoke for longer but never longer than a minute or so. I never really checked exactly what temps it starts at. Not a big problem IMO.
I'm not being a smartass for once... I thought black smoke was unburnt fuel?
My understanding is that the white smoke is emitted when diesel is not completely burnt due to cold conditions and black smoke is cause by unburnt diesel due to an overly rich mixture in the combustion chamber. I don't know the scientific reasoning behind it.
My understanding is white is raw, unburnt fuel, blue is oil and black is partially burnt fuel usually caused by an imbalance of air to fuel mixture or incorrect timing on the combustion process.
I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time....
Riffraff Diesel has Alliant and Full Force injectors. Just curious as to what the background is on these? If I do need to replace injectors in this truck I want to know which ones to get. And so far I like dealing with this company. Or do you buy Motorcraft Remans?
If you look in his signature (will not show up on a phone) you will see 160/100 Injectors. Click on that, or click on the direct link to it below in case you are on a phone.
