Bad news is that all that gas from the old rotten tank might have gummed up my carb a bit... it seems to stick running fast or high idle and when kicked off its running too slow. Hoping a bit of running to work and back will get it worked out with the nice new clean fresh fuel in it! Might get a thing of seafoam or carb cleaner to dump in the tank.
Lets see how long $40 lasts me!
Oh and guess that's why they call it a DENT side lol :P
Nice having a new tank huh. I've sprayed brake cleaner down my fuel bowl vents in order to clean out a carb, used the tube from the wd40 can. Don,t spray it straight down the tube as it will back spray and don't do it while it's running unless someone else is working the gas. Only takes a minute, on days that I'm not coordinated I'll sray it off a finger down the tube. Nice dent.
the straps that were on there didn't have that anti squeek pads. if it squeeks we will do something about it.
Lol privateer. Was thinking just spray can carb clean if i needed it. or just take it off and go all through it again.
I was hoping to drive it to work today but it started off at -8 and snowing and they say by the time im done work today -26 and heavy wind gusts. I do not want to be stranded at work!
Oh yeah. I remembered to put the NEW GAS CAP on this morning! and it FITS PERFECT! so happy! (even though its upside down lol)
Old inner tubes and contact cement work pretty good as friction pads, more crap that I saved instead of throwing out. I tell ya, that pic of the scrap metal collection just does something for me.HA HA
PS How come your tail lights have 4 screw holes in them. my 75s and the first 79 had 2 holes 1 on top and 1 on the bottom.

Reason: noticed the tail lights

Lenses for -73, F-series, have 4 screw in tail light. That was changed for the -74 model who has 2 hole lenses.
Some kind of product development to reduse cost at the assy line is my guess.
Good eye on the 4 screws Privateer Ive only seen two screws as well and didn't even pay attention.
We use old canvas/rubber firehose between tanks and tank straps, whatever works.
IIRC the lenses of the 4 screw taillights were glass and screwed to a metal base housing that the bulb and sockets mounted to. Also the early dent sides had 2 piece turn signals as well. And those I believe were glass lenses also.
Excuse my mug shot, but took Grumpy for a drive today. After the drive I noticed this on the top of the water pump. smells like gas, dabbed finger in it and it feels and looks like engine oil..
When home I looked at it again and no more accumulated and no more went away.
