Just wandering why you wouldn't use the lights you bought off eBay and just replace the sockets. You all ready have the lights you'll have to lose the gasket on the new lights though.

Is there a difference between your tail light hole and my 75 tail light hole, such as mounting points?

holes and mounts are the same but the 73/74 had that metal backing with separate lens.

75-79 they went to the twist in kind. lights work good, would just like to replace lenses rather then trying to cut and snip wires.

So I cleaned him up the other day! Grumpy was getting pretty muddy!

Then I went on a road trip! On the fender is the original dealership info.

And well I checked out where it was and found out its a hour from me.

It's long gone but the building is still there!

What it looked like in its glory days

Them old prairie towns are something else, the only time something gets torn down is after it's been burned down. That lower hwy through southern MB and SASK will take you to some unique lost in time towns. We may not have mountains but we got valley's.

Check out the older vans as they should have the same size tail light, maybe even the old snub nose ones. Van tail lights aren't as exposed as truck tail lights and might be in better shape.

So I'm guessing the exhaust donut that I found and put in grumpy during the engine rebuild process was not the right one or something. Basically we took the good one to the exhaust places around town and found one that looked the same lol.

Anyhow is C6AZ-9450-D the default part number for a 1973 302 exhaust donut?

Well I got the donut replaced. sounds allot better now! Got a few goodies coming for him. Tach, new dipstick, put on new plugs and wires and have been daily driving him.

I did have an incident with the hood. I think someone was under the hood, possibly to steal the battery and did not close it all the way. I got onto the highway and the hood came up... didnt hit windshield but wrecked both hinges.... had to bend them to get the hood to close...

video of how grumpy sounds now.

I had a hood come up on me on Marine drive in Vancouver, was only going about 30mph so I tapped the brakes. SLAM buggered up my hood release, finally got it open and my springs had slid up and I had to take a pry bar to them to get them back in place. Was kind of weird seeing my hood coming up in some what slow motion.

Double check your rubber lines, I pulled my pump motor and the lines got filled with dirt and rubber crumbs from handling the hoses. pump was working but I didn't hear it, I syphoned water through all the lines and cleaned them all, worked real good then.

Someone trying to steal parts off my dent would be wearing some new 12gauge jewelry all over their upper torso. Where I come from you don't mess with a truck, food, or woman; everything else is game.

Well good news everybody.

I got grumpy fixed. Thanks to youtube monies, I have saved up enough to get it done. I replaced both front bearings, disc, brake calipers, pads, flex lines, and shocks all around.

It is nice to have working brakes lol. Also now with all new shocks, IT DOES NOT BOUNCE UNCONTROLLABLY in parking lots lol

Still gotta get someone to look at the carb and possibly bite that bullet and get the choke kit for it.

So ever since I did the engine rebuild on Grumpy I had been having problems with inconsistent idle, Truck not liking higher RPM and when I did give it all she had, It ended up throwing up the dipstick and coating the engine with oil. Faught and Faught with it.. Had breather in the passenger side and I put a PCV valve in on driver side and hose down the side to see if anything coming out that side...

Well I checked that passenger side breather and found it full of oil! Kinda freaking out, the oil level wouldnt go down, could not figure out how the head was full of oil like this.. So went and got some hex drivers and took the valve cover off............ And found this... That grommet for the breather was actually a PLUG!!! I don't know how buddy that helped me or myself missed that! Felt so stupid...

So I cut the bottom out of that plug and made it into a proper grommet! I re-installed that breather (btw it was not the first breather I had tried in there!) and buttoned it back up.

I routed the vac line from the carb to the driver side PCV valve

I then took it to the local carwash and gave Grumpy's heart a bath. Surprisingly it didnt object that and fired right up and drove home. Usually Grumpy lives up to his name lol!!

He was doing so well I decided to take him to a car show the next weekend! He did really well. I had put about 120km on him at highway speeds and NO OIL or dipstick being pushed out! And a couple times I put it to the floor to make sure!

Now my only problem is that at 75mph and above I get a good driveline shimmy in him.. Think its the steady bearing for the 2 piece driveshaft.. Will have to wait and see!
