Found my 75th anniversary ford truck f100 thru 350 book and nifty blue plastic folder from Macklin ford. Damn thing is 190 pages long but is specific to 1978 so it was useless for this quest. It had my pre delivery sheet dated 10/08/78 and have my 12 month factory warranty facts booklet. The haynes had jack squat for info so I went to pages 1079 to 1083 of my chilton bible but it only goes to 78 so it had nothing. Wish you would have posted 4 hours earlier Hio, I'm starting to wear out my glasses.Sure learned alot about 1978 and thanks to my o2 levels I'll probably have forgotten everything by tomorrow.

This trans thing is starting to sound like one of fords Alice in Wonderland moments, that or the CIA was doing one of thier Lsd experiments in Dearborn.

Heard about the weather and the crop losses and I hope you guys find a way to pull through Stuffz. If we don't hear much from you for awhile thats more than understandable, you've got a lot higher priorities. I'm not religious but may god finally get with you and bring you all some sunshine and warm weather, you more than hell need it.

May the morning bring you a better day.

Lets not forget that a 74 truck is 40 years old. Therefore it is possible that a previous owner may have at one time needed a trans rebuild and instead swapped in a newer model t18.

well he is off to get new glass!! Removed the tarp of shame. lights looked good!

Even the dash lights worked if I move the **** just right... think I will need a new one..

Big suck gets to sleep inside for the first time in who knows how long!

One last look at the World's Trade Fair '74 sticker from the windshield

And the sticker of my apparent "Made in China" windshield. Looks authentic. No tint. Got it cheap because there is a tiny scratch on passenger side. Works for me!!

Next time I see Grumpy, He will be a different man!! they are also doing a cleaning on the interior for me!

Apparently the wife snagged a photo of me driving it to the window place! (psst, she is driving my 2012 f150!)

wife says the clearance lights were flickering a few times... not sure if that would be a single bulb doing that or the crusty headlight switch.

Also... Super nervous now it's in for a window. Peeled back the rubber in the top corners and no RUST!!

Holy cow she likes to stay close behind. And the headlight switch would be my guess. But be sure to check of corrosion at all plug terminals.

lol that was at a stop light. no 3rd brake light to show I was on the brakes lol.

Anyhow, GLASS IS IN!! I just got the message! so yay it's not all rusted/rotted around the window seal.

Didnt get the rear window tinted because it has to be done with the glass out and would push it back till monday... I call bs on that but whatever, it's in.

So went to change thermostat. This is what I had to contend with. It was still pretty caked in old oil.

I got it off okay. couple 1/2" bolts. Look yummy??

Well this was even more YUMMY. that bad end was pretty much MUSH!!

amazing the petcock still works! I flushed out the system a couple times. I hear if you use Simple Green it does a good job. Might do that still. It isn't FREEZING here yet, but getting close.

After all said and done, it only gets to the E in TEMP now! but I still get a backfire when shutting it off after it has been running for awhile. Guessing I need to get it timed and then tuned again...

I also ordered in a new headlight switch today. Think I need a wiper switch to. Or atleast a new ****.

I noticed you got some new vacumn lines, before you do that tune up replace all them lines and clean up your electrical contacts related to your coil, solenoid, choke and etc. that may be part of your backfire problem. must be nice having a new green house, gonna need to dirty the window in order to get used to it.

lol already got it dirty. when I was flushing coolant you get the truck running to warm up and burp right.. whell that water comes out the top of the rad and... FWWWWWWIIIPPP right into the fan, which goes right onto the motor and exhaust AND right up that gap from the hood to windshield and got all over the windshield. I had to go get windex and re-do them. I need new wipers to lol!!

Brings me up to my next thing, I need a new wiper ****. this one is badly rounded out inside. Also how do you make the washer pump squirt? I forget. I thought you push in on the ****?
