Hey, don't you love that made in China quality, I shouldnt' beak off to soon as I bought the $220 engine hoist last Sunday as it was the last day of the sale, got one of those levelers to.
Well motor has been removed from the bed of my 2012 finally lol. dropped it and the engine stand off at buddys place. Time is being a pain and our times off havent met up lately.
I did fire up grumpy and move him today and start unloading the sand out of the back. I have 2/3 of the sand removed from the truck. just from front of fender wells and forward left to move! I went until my arms told me no more! even typing this makes my arms feel like rubber again!
3280kg it said on the scale. truck is about 1800 empty. so about 1500kg of sand. 3200lbs.
Shoulda known you had the prairie boy hobby, used to have a bunch of 1/25, 1/43. The 1/32s we would build into slot cars and destroy them on the Strombecker race track. We had the Monza wall set and would slide the track on the floor with the cars. Nice diorama, got to show us a picture when its done. R.C. in 1/14 scale, it would take me twice as long to final detail something that size as it used to. Any of you guys have a collection of small rubber bands, disposable lighter hardware and anything small that's gear driven. lol.
Well LOTS of progress tonight yet so much more to go. Went over to buddy Jason's place and I tore down the block. Only a couple times did he help. Like taking the harmonic balancer out and helping me get the cam out.
Hopping theres no surprises in there, be a good time to have a mic set and measure everything or a good set of eyes to inspect all them bearing and journal surfaces. Cam change would be nice, actually worth it if you can find a good used one as the breakin would be done, get the lifters with it. One of those Mustang '303' cams are pretty cheap used and one of the first things swapped out when them boys hotrod their stangs. Lots of cheap dual plane intakes out there, just need to put the word out.
That look like a respectable daily driver combo. The step up in compression really helps, you don't run it at -40 so winter should be no problem, thats what the cushy truck is for. Should be just enough power for that truck, got headers yet.
buddy has a set but they dont dump down at the back, they go down about 3/4 of the way back. dunno if they will work or not. if not ill be looking for something!
Not to kick sand on your build, but that cam specs out @ 1500-4500 yet that intake is spec'd @ 1500-6500 rpm. Why not get a cam that closer matches the capabilities of the intake? Possibly missed it if you listed, but what heads are you planning on using?
A smaller cam is easier to live with than one that's too big. That's not to say there's not a better cam. Aside from that he could retard the cam he liked to shift its power later in the rpm's and more closely match the intakes potential. That's if the cam will be degreed in to verify valve events.
