Yeah thats a hard deal to leave on the table, good thing your married with responsibilities. Us immature reckless single old geezers think a whole lot differently. LOL
Valve guides usually go bad, castings aren't that great, spring seats are soft, and on and on. All the money you think you're saving is eaten up in machine costs, on top of that they don't flow well compared to AFR, or TrickFlows.
Thats better, thankyou. Was under the impression pro comp was U.S. made but times are a changing. Thought maybe your concern was the aluminium roller rockers. For low milleage light trucks you can get away with them but most people forget that you need to go to steel roller rockers for heavy vehicles or if using for long term milleage. That statement should start some motors of discontent. How long ago did pro comp go pro china.
I've heard the same about Pro-Comp's quality when it comes to engine parts (e.g. rockers). They do sell some Ford Racing licensed logo products that I wouldn't be hesitant to buy, but that's stuff like spark plug wire looms where it really doesn't matter if they're made from top-notch materials.
well i passed on the stuff there. they were pretty set on 2k even though ad said OBO.. but they were turning down 1700 so I wasn't even gonna bother to go see it...
no word yet but Im thinking staying with stock heads and just mild out the rest. aint gonna be no firebreathing big block either lol
GT40 heads flow pretty good for a factory head and can be had for a reasonable price, your not using the truck for hot rodding so you don't need to have aluminum heads anyway.
Pretty hard sticking with just building a good cruiser huh.
Well this plus the pistons onto the rods and oil pan cleaned is what 1500 bucks looks like...
almost half alone was the heads being redone. had a couple valves sunk and springs were weak. so 300 parts 500 labour and rest was cleaning and boring and pulling plugs that wouldnt come out etc.
Well went to the USA yesterday and picked up my stage 3 intake, street and strip cam, double roller timing chain, and today I have this coming. found on a provincial facebook group.
$300 bucks, new used two runs on his camero and it wasnt big enough. should be arriving on the bus tonight Its a 600 CFM!! should work nicely!
next trick is to get some days off to go put the darn thing together!!!
