Jim - Thanks for the link. Changes like those shown on the oiling system are what I'm hoping to do. I did that once upon a time on a 350 Chevy and saw big changes on the oil pressure. The oil pressure gauge looked like the tach where prior to the changes it was sluggish.
As for oil return, apparently it can be a problem with 400's as TFS touts the increased oil return on their heads. But I'd bet that is on high RPM engines and mine is going to be in that category.

My understanding is that that is only a Clevor(Cleveland heads on Windsor block) issue as the oil drain back holes don't quite line up. That TFS has elongated the drain back holes so that they match both blocks.
Agreed. The 400's oiling system is certainly different, but basic mods to enhance flow work on any system. Fluids don't like hard turns, sharp edges, etc.
Actually, on the 335 engines, the rear of the right head and front of the left head, the drain holes have corners in them and will plug up, front isn't as bad, but I have pulled a right valve cover on a 351M after it cooled and found close to a quart of oil in there.
Update: They sent me home from surgery yesterday wearing the patch previously discussed, which made wearing my glasses difficult - which is my excuse for the many typos yesterday. Anyway, all was well until the anesthesia wore off last evening, at which point the searing pain reminded me of the MASH theme song. The recommended Tylenol did little to diminish the pain so I dipped into pain killers retained from previous surgeries - which is my excuse for unusual posts. Went in to see the doctor this morn and discovered that they'd not shared with me the extent of the growth they had to remove. Apparently it was much more extensive and well-rooted than expected and the removal resulted in the nerves being exposed on about 1/3 of the eye. So they prescribed some lovely med's that should mask the pain. And, they removed the patch. So now my excuse for typos is gone but the posts may get even more bizarre.
But, if things settle down I hope to finalize the order with Tim. Even though he won't have the pistons until early March, he needs to order in the heads and detail as well as populate them. And, he has to figure out what specs to go with on the cam. So he wants to do that in advance and be ready to ship everything when the pistons come in.
Also, I wondered about posting my drawings and transcription re oiling system on the 335 forum. What do y'all think?
Get better with the pain Gary. When I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out at once I was prescribed Vicodin. I never even picked it up. Had no pain whatsoever. Guess I was lucky.
