Gary, are you ever going to wind this engine up to use all that airflow? I'm thinking it might feel kinda off at low throttle. Undoubtedly this will be a massively fun truck. I guess we will wait and see.
Yes, the "small" runners will be good for a truck. They aren't really that much larger than a stock head's runners, but flow much better. No need to wind it up as the heads will perform well at low RPM - as well as relatively high R's.

Well, then what's left after the build? We are only on page 50 (mobile app)
Well, we have to dither a bit about the color scheme for the engine - especially the valve covers. And then there's the carb. Plus the air cleaner. And those are all engine-related things. What about the sound deadener? That could be a thread on its own! Oh, and I have to powder coat the fasteners I cannot find as new. So get your think caps on boys, it's going to be a boring ride!
Have you decided what you are doing with the air cleaner as far as using the HO or using the other style. I still have the one we PC'd and I am not dead set on using it if you need it. I can just use one of the HO units you have out there. Let me know.
I'm going HO but grafting another snorkel on. Don't yet know what color combo I'll go with, but we will get to discuss that ad nauseum when I have an engine to mock up. Or, actually, I could put a rough coat of Old Ford Blue on the $40 400 block, slide the new heads on, lay the Edelbrock intake between them, slide the new water pump on, lay the valve covers on and start playing what-if games. That would be enough to give us an idea what things look like. One valve cover is still blue and one black, so depending on the side you look from....
But, right now I'm trying to get the frame ready for the body man. So the engine dressing contest will have to wait.
I've seen a lot of pics from Tim's site that have the tall black valve covers, with the heads and intake raw aluminum (unpainted). It looks mean, as if the engine is only about business. Even with the aluminum Weiand intake, I plan to shoot is all Old Ford Blue to keep it looking stock, despite the upgrades. I just sprayed some more high temp black on my brackets. I'll probably respray it on the air cleaner too. I think this combo will make the engine itself stand out a bit more, since the engine enamel is gloss.
[Edit:] Ran out of the header paint. Switched to GM Satin Black engine enamel. We shall see if this looks good.
My boy Kris came home from work in the Bronco tonight. When he turned off the lights he paused in the running light position and one of them wasn't working. So with the key off and out of the column I pulled the headlight switch into the first position to take a look. When I did the blower motor came on and started blowing. So I turned it off and back on and the same thing happened.
I was discussing it with Gary on the phone. He mentioned that someone else had a similar issue which was the result of the wire going to the headlight switch burning through and into another wire. So I need to investigate now.
And this relates to Dad's Engine because........................................... .................................................. ................................................(I 'm still thinking)......................................... .................................................. .................................................. ..................................... Oh, I get it - it doesn't?
