I had a problem with my big HEI distributor not clearing the intake runner. So I had to Make a small spacer ring to jack my distributor up about .090". Then I took my biggest double cut file and made a few strokes across the manifold. I got enough clearance now.
It drives a lot smoother, and I can tell it has more power. But I still think I have the miss. I haven't had much time to tune it and play with it yet. I got it out for a test drive after I set the timing quick then I had to go to work for the day.

Man it hurts to hear you say that!!!! Seems like the most progress you had at any one point was when you put the shims under the rocker arms, considering that I think I'd move further in that direction.
Well after driving it a bit I've noticed a couple things.
#1, it pulls way harder above 2500 rpm than it did.
#2, it doesn't have any low end power anymore. I used to be able to smoke tires around every corner and away from every stop if I wanted. But now I can't even get them to spin. ( this is a big problem for me, I like to be ABLE TO burn rubber)
#3, it doesn't start as easily as it used to.
I take it that This is all linked to improper tuning of the new carb.

As I recall those Eddy carbs have both an intake and venturi vacuum nipple. Try the other nipple on the carb for your Dizzy.
I changed mine from the passenger side nipple to the drivers side. The Eddy
web site has a PDF manual ya can download free with all the info ya will ever
need and more.
It is tuneable. What do you have the timing set at? Timing off or a vacuum leak can cause this. Like maybe the Brake Booster bad and acting as a leak as an example. Was the carb used or brand spanking new?
I've got the timing at 10-12btc Carb was used, but I rebuilt it. Really simple carbs the edelbrocks. I'm a fan, but not if it won't run good.
As far as vacuum goes I've just got the tranny dizzy and PCV.
Ah. Then you know about the jets and metering rods for the primarys. Read your plugs and see if it's running to fat or too lean. I've heard in the past it's one step in rods for every 2 steps in jets. PO might have at one time went 3 steps in the jets. Eddy uses fatter (richer) jets and rods in the secondaries. Just for S&G swap out the rods and jets front to back temporarilly and see if your low end comes in. If so there are the jets and rods you should buy.
I checked out the plugs. They all look nice and clean with a touch of red on the hot side. Except for cylinder 7. It had heavy black soot deposits on it, but it was still firing.
I think I must have some kind of oil control problem on the valves of 7.
