Well I'm still pretty young. And I couldn't figure it out. So I was looking for someone that was around when these old engines were still on the road and being driven and worked on everyday.

Right now the only culprit of the problem is the couple of weak valve springs.

So, which cylinders were the weak springs on?

Strange. I was just wondering if it corresponded to the suspect cylinders.

I think 7 is causing the whole problem and it was bleeding over to 4 because of the shared intake runner and the fact that they are 180* apart

Further evidence has been unearthed. After disassembly of the heads, I have 2 collapsed valve springs. on 7 exhaust, 3 intake

Hmmmm

Hmmmm

I would think that would cause an engine miss and lack of power for sure.
Now am I to understand your putting (or already have put) another engine
in her? If so how is She running now?

What's your plan? Or have I missed it again?

I have put a fresh motor In it while I fix this one. She runs very well except for the carb is the same old two barrel so it jumps and surges like it always used to before I replaced it.

My plan is to fix my engine, engine #2, and put it back in with new COMP springs and my towing cam.

Well I would, but it's not my engine to really modify, the ol man is letting me use it "on loan" while I fix mine. So I have to keep it the way he wants it.

When I swapped from this one to my edelbrock on my engine, it made a world of difference on how it started Ran and drove. Even on 6 cylinders. Eddy has a new fan!

I always liked them on street motors but not so much for drag racing. I put my $$$ on Holley.

No, but The Lord himself came down from above and said, "son, if you didn't get it right this time, I can't help ya!"

God I hope I got it right this time.
