loaded up truck thread
she made it home limping though.blew the front trans seal.not due to overheating.just age/left sitting for years.time to pull the trans....oh joy.
this is an extreamly enjoyable truck to work though.with a front end lined up,tire re-balance and rotation,im going to love it!!
these come with 4.63 or 5.13 gearing.they work like tractors! haha it was so effortless.the old gal hardly knew she had a load with spring, ride, power, and brakes hardly noticing a thing there.i can't wait to fix her! i just got back in a couple hrs ago.got the trans all ready to drop so i can replace her trans seal tomorrow.i don't want to be without it,now that iv got it!

that load there plus the little 1200 lb stump grinder,if i drove 50 mph she'd climb hills in OD without kicking down.heck she even started gaining speed....not kidding.it's like my chip truck on steroids.fun times.
if you could use one, don't hesitate to grab one.just don't overpay cus they're all old now.you know how that goes.
Hard to believe this is the max this truck is legally allowed to haul in the bed.
Going back today to get another 8 sq
Took down a pretty good size tree. This is one of 3 loads of brush I took with the trailer and all of the solid wood from the tree. It was wet wood and weighed around 1400 lbs in the bed I'm guessing. It did drag the hitch leaving the driveway but it was fine after that.

A few months ago, hauling brush and such out of the back yard. Had about 4 loads like this one.
And earlier this month, 40 cases of wine, each box had 4 1-gallon jugs. Roughly 1600 pounds. The suspension barely moved, the stopping distance was ever so slightly longer than unloaded, and the engine didn't notice a thing. Big difference compared to my boss's '86 F150 with a 302

Not really fitting work for a diesel, but hey, better to have and not need than to need and not have

9260lbs (had to stop by house take some of the load off the little trailer, it was crushing it)
8460lbs
Weight unknown but it squatted the truck pretty good when I sat it in there.
My hilo, weight unknown haven't taken it across a scale yet but I will say it pretty much owns that 5K truck towing it!

2 years ago.. 1981 J20 frame.

3 weeks ago. 1980 J20 Factory cab and chassis truck turned utility bed from day one.

Last summer. Whole bunch of Western Red Cedar.

Last summer side yard project.

This was behind that load of dirt in the above pic. My truck struggled getting this all back to my house. Lots of steep hills over 25 miles. Thought I killed my truck that evening.

2 years ago at the beginning of that side yard project.

2010 Delivering my 78 Cherokee to the new owner.

This truck is a brute. I have had as much as 3 1/4 tons of gravel in the bed and the bed stuffed with parts and the trailer fully loaded with parts and a whole 72 J4800 Jeep before and this thing acts like nothing is back there.
Except that day I loaded the bed with sand and then dirt and rocks as well as the trailer which also got the Kubota loaded on it. It groaned from the start of that trip and was screaming at the end trying to get up to my house. It bucked and snorted like a pulling tractor when I shut it off. Next day it fired right back up. So I shut it off and changed every fluid in it. Been good as ever since.

anyway now that the local town flood is over i got asked by the local ffa to donate my time and truck to hual sandbags, wet sandbags. well the first load i filled it up and it was way overfull, was sitting on the axle and handled ok but not drive down the road at 55, in town it was fine though. did about 11 more loads with a few less sandbags on it being when i hit a bump with the first load my triball hitch tore a chunk of road out, stopped the truck pretty quick to luckily i was only doing 5 mph. anyway on the last load, which was lighter than the other loads i had hualed i drove it across the scale, it said 7020 pounds, a little more than what i thought, and a little higher than the 5600 on the door jamb sticker. anyway unloaded that and hit the scale again and it said 4845 was the unloaded weight which meant i had about 2500 pounds in the box on the lighter loads, sand bags prolly weighed about 100 pounds each, thinking the first load was a very possible 8500 pound total weight, which is fine for a few blocks but not something i would drive down the road. i may also get my hitch checked out to make sure i didnt crack the ball even though i never use 1 7/8ths.
i should also mention there was a 90's dodge cummins there with about half of what i had on there..... that person got some crap lol
