Not the average load: 49 Farmall Cub in the back. Going to the Florida Flywheeler's Show in January. Will be loading it back up this weekend for the Zolfo Springs Pioneer Days show at the end of Febuary.
That was a custom built cargo rack made out of redwood decking material. I cut a radius to (more or less) conform to the curve of the roof. I laid that foam drawer/shelf-lining material between the wood and the paint. Drove it like that from Colorado Springs, CO to Warner Robins, GA.
55mph was something I never saw, even going downhill!
im surprised we don't see this kind of stuff more often with these insane fuel prices.people no longer owning larger vehicles or try and get away with using one of their smaller ones even for stuff like this.
what was your reason for doing it? exactly that,or just didn't own a truck at the time?
Needed a bit of topsoil while we are snowless, so got a couple of yards.
I weighed in at 5,700lbs, and out at 11240lbs, so 5,540lb load.
Yeah, it's not as nice a hauler as yours FORDF250, but it does get the job done
I guess I should learn to take pictures more often. Last fall, I moved a full size Kenmore Elite washer and dryer set home in the back of my 03 Focus ZX3, a Kenmore 7.2 cu ft freezer, and just tonight I bought a 40" 14 drawer Craftsman Tool chest and brought it back to my parent's house in the back of my car. I've hauled more stuff in my car in the last year than I have in my truck; it's back at my parent's house getting fixed anytime I need it.

I did not own a truck at the time. It was a self-move while I was in the military.
Last year, I used my brother's 2012 F350, 6.7l, to tow his Freightliner WITH a load of water in his tanker. It was about 80k lbs. So.. we hooked it up and I took off, up and down the twisty, wandering hills here in North Dakota. I mostly ran 50-55, and he was the brakes. Towed that thing about 60 miles, back to town.
Wish I had Pics of THAT, but I was pretty busy at the time....
