Couldn't go over 40mph, truck was ALL over the road, couldn't keep it in a straight line. Dragged that weight pretty good tho with the 300 Big Six and 2.73 gears behind the C6, and stopped it good to!
Dang I think you stretched your truck hauling that. Lol!!!
Cut down a tree 4 ft in diameter, ironwood which is supposed to be some of the heaviest I heard, so wet water dripped out of cut pieces and the saw threw water around like a lawn sprinkler, got one heaping 5.5 by 8 ft 9 inch trailer full, that trailer is still loaded with the shackle links on The springs hitting the frame. Hauled a heaping 6 foot 9 inch by 16 ft 5 inch trailer full with the 94 super cab with 5.0 cause the 92 with 4.9 has light problems right now
Still have half of the tree left, also hauled the pulling tractor around with my grandpas 79 f150 with 400 4 speed and 20 ft gooseneck trailer a bunch this summer
You gotta love those old trucks. Even the F150's had big power plants. I used to have a 78 with a 351M400/C6 combo and one of those giant cast iron transfer cases. I really miss that truck. Lifted long bed 78/79's are some of my favorite trucks.
yeah, he used to have the 351m but pulled it for a rebuilt 400m, still have two 351ms in his shop. also, got the lights fixed on the truck so we hauled the 5.5 by 8 ft 9 inch trailer with the 92 4.9, did it much better, used less than a 1/4 tank compared with over 1/2 tanks with the 5.0 going to the same place, only kicked out of overdrive 3 times compared with having to lock it out with the 5.0

IMO, the 5.0 has been and always will be a car engine. I have one of the best running factory truck 5.0's that came out and it still doesn't have any bottom end in my bronco. A 4 inch bore and a 3 inch stroke is a recipe for high revving HP not low end torque. I want so bad to go to a 5.8 in my Bronco but my 5.0 only has 60k on it.
ok, it looks weird to me, if it looks weird to you just click on them and they work, i found out that the wood weighed in the 10,000 pound area !!!!! didnt know it cuase the ford wasnt squattin, but as soon as i hit the brakes i knew i had a little more back there than i though, trailer doesnt quite have brakes either, soakin everything in pb blaster
Scrapped a couple rigs a few weeks ago, grossed just over 16k with a diesel burb and just over 15k with the hi-boy.
These were two tone trucks. Now it is just a strip of silver or gold on the bottom. Think about how those trucks looked when new. If I remember there was an option of 3 different two tones. The only thing better today is the ride.
I had to tow my mustang for the first time in 17 years. I thought my fuel pump had quit, turned out to be my tank float got stuck and I just ran out of gas. It was quite depressing at the time as the day before some girl had pulled out in front of me and totaled my wifes 2008 solstice. It looked like I was running out of cars.
good to see people still posting, and it bumps the thread to the top, so more people can share their pics, the only thing that looks better than these trucks is these trucks with a trailer!!
