Here are a couple pics of my '97 F-250 CCSB loaded for a fourwheeling and camping trip to northern Minnesota (the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area in Gilbert, MN). The truck carries the slide-in camper and tows the Bronco, then we leave the truck in camp and drive the Bronco while we're there. I'll post some pictures of the fourwheeling in my Bronco thread and on the Off Road forum when I get some time.

And for another picture of a loaded DOWN truck, I still have the camper on my pickup and I needed to get my boat back from the shop, so I took the Bronco. First time I towed 2000 lbs with it. Boy that 302 must be about at it's limit with just the Bronco! It's not bad normally, but I sure had to wind it out to get the extra weight moving!
... my buddy's f150 wit a 302 ... has to be heavier than that bronco.
Don't bet on that. Everything on an old school Bronco is heavy. I'm sure it outweighs an '87 - '96 F150 2WD RCSB, but maybe not as much as a 4WD SCLB

4.10 axles with 33" tires. But gearing isn't the problem, it's expectations. I expect a truck to get out of it's own way without winding the engine above about 2000 rpm (I'll run it higher when I need to get out of someone else's way). With my NV3550 5 speed I normally start in 2nd. Towing the boat I need to start in 1st. Then when I normally shift at about 2K, I need to wait until 3K or 3500 to shift with the boat. It does OK like that, I just don't consider that the way I should need to use a truck engine.
