Bill, This is the data plate from a 1974 LT9000 I am restoring. I have not been able to decode the rear axle code. Thanks, Dano
I cannot decode it either, probably because the rear axle was a Domestic Special Order* w/a 6 digit DSO code (110014).
The first 2 refer to the district sales office (11 = Boston). The last 4 refer to the DSO invoice number.
AXLE code usually contains 3 digits. The first 2 refer to the rear axle, while the 3rd refers to the front axle.
P is probably the front axle code: Rockwell-Timken model FF-903 Front Axle, 12,000 lbs. Capacity with Power Steering.
*Domestic Special Order: Something was installed on the truck that was not an RPO (Regular Production Order). No part numbers for parts listed in the catalog.
If parts were required, the dealer contacted FoMoCo w/6 digit DSO. They looked up the order number, passed the part numbers/sources back to the dealer.
Bill, Thanks for the explanation. If the truck was ordered with the owner/operator package or trim options like the aluminum fuel tanks and stainless steel mirror frames and stainless exhaust mufflers for the 8V71 Detroit would any of that show as a trim code on the door tag or would that only be on record with the DSO code with some file that probably no longer exists? Thanks, Dano

There's no trim code on the Warranty Plates of these trucks.
There's a BODY code, but it only refers to the type/color of the seat upholstery and if the truck is a Standard or Custom Cab.
There's no way to know today what Domestic Special Order parts were installed.
Kevin Marti, a Phoenix AZ Mustang/Shelby "nut" acquired all the 1967/79 records in the late 1980's, when he discovered that FoMoCo was going to THROW THEM AWAY, but...
He hasn't done anything with the 500 and larger series truck records, so you cannot get a "Marti Report" like you can for cars, F100/350's, Bronco's and Econolines.
I cannot help you, this 11 digit VIN is different than the US/Canadian VIN's used thru 1980. I would need a Mexican Ford parts catalog to decode it, but I don't have any.
I see you ALL OVER this forum!!!! Would you please help me with my VIN?? F60DKE15597
I'm having issues with identifying the year and the engine code. "D?" Not sure what that engine is or its history. I sure would appreciate your help.
