Bill,
Thanks for the heads up. I did see the big truck parts manual, but was not sure that was exactly correct.
I picked up the truck today. pretty much as advertised. The PO owned a auto shop and bought the truck 20 years ago for "cheap storage" He replaced the Allison transmission with a new Jasper. He has only put 700 miles on it in the last 20 years. The brakes leak, at least the left rear. The power steering leaks. The radiator core is shot, but he included a Hummer radiator that might work.
Left upper: Type/GVW C617= 21,200 lbs. / Right upper: C Series Front axle application chart, notice that a 6,000 lb. axle was standard equipment.
Left lower: M front axle code for 1973/77: 7,000 lbs. / EDIT: Right lower: 44 axle code, 13,000 lbs. capacity.
Bill,
I am very new to this, so I want to make sure I am reading these manuals correctly. I am reading the warranty plate to say axle 64M, not 44M. If that is correct, according to the excerpts of the manuals that you posted I should have the 15M rear axle, not 13M, same Rockwell (Timken) gears though. Am I reading that correctly. I want to make sure as I start to order parts.
Next question: For the front wheel cylinder rebuild kits, it looks like their could either be 14" or 15" front brakes (and the wheel cylinders are different). Is there a way to determine that before I pull the drum and measure?

Is there a way to determine that before I pull the drum and measure? 1975 C600 with 7,000 lbs. capacity front axle could have 15" x 3" or 15" x 3 1/2" or 16" x 2 1/2" front brakes. Need to know which size in order to look up the brake parts.
44 is a Rockwell (Timken) model D-140 Single Speed Rear Axle / 6.80-1.
64 = Rockwell (Timken) model F-106 Single Speed Rear Axle / 6.80-1 / 15,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
64 same ratio as 44, but it's a different rear axle. F-106 rear axle parts list is # 95
I'm looking for a camshaft to fit this engine and no parts department can find one. Uh huh They 'shined you on' as they made absolutely no effort to find any!
It took me less than a minute to look up the part number and find both of these:
I ordered lifters for a 360 and the listing said it would work for the 391, will any parts cross over? There is hundreds of 360 and 390 parts available. Thank you number dummy.
I've just gotten a Series 9000 tractor. It's vin is U91WVHD5627 with a 9E exterior, a 23 DSO, a 186 WB, a U914 type, DZ8 body, FL trans and a GJP axle. Can somebody give me some more info? The only thing I've been able to find so far is it's a U9000 (duh- since it says that on the hood!) and was made in Louisville. I'm pretty sure it's a Cummins in her, but would really like to know more for parts obtaining purposes.
In this thread, the listings for axles appear to start with numbers, but this one is clearly a "G". I've got a "6" in the wheelbase and there's a distinct hook of the "G" as the first digit in the axle. and it's also not closed as the "6" is.

Hey Bill, got a P400 and I bought it as a 1967 but not sure.
Vin tag inside the engine compartment has P40_LA35709
(_) is a space between the P40 and LA
Info is appreciated
Thanks
