Thank you so much for the help, and yes I joined FTE just to ask you a question so I should have put you as a reference. You think these truck have any more value than their weight in steel? I want someone to take it that wants it rather than taking it to the scrap yard. THANKS agian!

I need help decoding a VIN - it's a P Series Parcel Delivery.
Would like to restore this van but without the proper information can't do this. Chassis is Ford and the body a Grumman Olson.
There is no site on the internet that is able to decode 11 digit VIN
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): P50 J VN72706
W.B. 137 / COLOR: Blank / MODEL: P500 / BODY: 0 / TRANS: G / AXLE: 44 / MAX GVW LBS: 15000 / CERT NET HP: 122 / RPM: 3400 / DSO: 8970218 Verify, should only be 6 numbers.

P50 = P500 (P Series Parcel Delivery).
J = Cannot be correct, not used after 1965. Possibly an A = 240 1V I-6.
V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.
N72706 = 1972.
137" Wheelbase.
COLOR: Blank.
P500, 15,000 lbs. GVWR
0 = Body not supplied by FoMoCo.
G = C4 Cruise-O-Matic used with 240 & 300 I-6's, has 11 trans pan bolt holes.
44 = Rockwell model D100 Single Speed Rear Axle / 6.80-1 / 13,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
15,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
122 net HP @ 3,400 RPM (Possibly 240 I-6, VIN engine code A).
89XXXX: If 89 is correct = Transportation Service, last 4 numbers: Domestic Special Order.
If 870218: 87 = Selling dealer sold P500 to body company / 0218 = Domestic Special Order.
When there is no COLOR code, vehicle is painted a non standard color per original purchasers request, making the vehicle a Domestic Special Order.
2/2004: "She who must be obeyed" and I took a 14 night Panama Canal Cruise, Miami to San Diego. First port of call: Aruba

Been trying to find a way to read my Vin # but have not found it yet.
Wondering if someone can help me out with it. If I go by what I find stuff does not match up.
I do know it was sold as a Cab Chassis truck then turned into a sleeper and hauler bed truck. It has the 240 HP 7.8 motor turned up RT6610 Road Ranger 10 speed, 4.56 rearend.
