Dale's customer support should be handled via Dale, not via FTE and he needs to sponsor FTE if the site is going to continue to be used as a Tymar support system. Discuss the products all you want, but keep his support issues off the site (ie, where is he, why doesn't he answer the phone, what's his phone number).
This discussion has been predominantly a do-it-yourself "Tymar stlye" open air filter assembly. Yes the name appears frequently but only as a reference.
I know what the discussion has been about. But in this thread and a couple of others, people have asked why they can't get in touch with Dale, how to get in touch with him besides his web site, etc. I've removed such posts except a couple and that's why I asked for it to stop.
In this thread, someone asked why they couldn't get in touch with him and why he's taking so long to return calls. Two people responded, one response was removed.
Will have them by 9:00 AM tomorrow, now all I need is the 4" pipe and I'm at a loss so far at finding that anywhere. Too bad, it's going to rain all weekend here. Oh well, the search continues. Any suggestions as to who carries that kind of pipe?
If you can't find an exhaust section you can go to an electrical distributor and ask for a piece of 3 1/2" EMT (electrical metallic tubing) The outside diameter is actually 4" but the trade size is 3 1/2"
Or, The Garbage State as it's frequently referred to, NJ! I'll do some searching tomorrow and see if I can't come up with a piece pcwirepro. If all else fails, I let you know and maybe I can send you the snail mail address and I'll pay the freight of course. I think I know where there's an electrical supply house in the next town over.
If their is a Chassis shop, Place that builds racecars around your house , they will be the best bet for large tubing. Luckily the guy that built my racecar has little pieces of pipe all over his shop , so when I was in need of the 4'' elbow , i just took a look around his shop and found exactly what I needed...
Well after a few hours of hunting, I found the item I needed, the dreaded 4" pipe. I went to a local truck parts supplier and purchased an exhaust pipe that measured exactly what I wanted with the exception of the length. One new hack saw blade and the old trusty vise and I had everything I needed. I looked at the project with the confidence I got from pcwirepro and about 35 minutes later, it was running. No sensors lighting up the dash, just a sweet sounding intake. I can most definately hear the difference and it may be my imagination, but I feel a much stronger low end such as when I take off from a dead stop. I have to agree with the posts I've read about the turbo sounding different also. I now have two more conversions to do next weekend seeing as how I'm now an "expert" in this application.
My thanks to all who have posted the many tips on this subject with "SPECIAL" thanks to pcwirepro for his guidance with the pictures and part numbers and step by step articles.
I just read in another topic (I Just Used The Super Tuner) where Ford is now not doing warranty work on anything with a chip, exhaust or air cleaner mods. I had asked that exact question before I made the swap last weekend and never really got a definate yes. Well now I have it, sadly enough, I'll be swapping it back out to stock after work this week. As I said in the other post, I don't have $$$$$ for an engine and the small gain in performance by either the air intake, or the chip & tuner is NOT worth the voiding of my warranty which is also an extended one at that. Bummer
