My first thought is what happens to the filter if you get caught in a good driving rain storm being totally exposed like that? I'm "this close" to ordering the NAPA parts and making the change but I'm also trying to make sure I cover all my bases being new to the PSD.
Just finished doing a PCV re-locate , and installing some metal tubing to replace the factory rubber belows. I noticed a slight increase in the pitch of the turbo , but thats about it. Having it sent out tomorrow to get ceramic coated inside and out , to try and keep the air intake charge as cool as possibile , and prevent rust.
Will post pics as soon as all is said and done......
I also just put mine on. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't notice any difference in sound. I do notice a slight increase in power. Guess I'll have to wait until Ihook up the trailer to really tell if it was worth it.
I read this in a previous post, or maybe this one back earlier...i dont remember...anyways someone had said that this was one of their questions too..they said that in the time they had their's that through rain storms and such the engine compartment has enough protection that it seals up and really doesnt get it wet. I would take wirepro's advice and cover it or something when washing the engine. Remember all the tymars and such are also open to the world as well, and i havnt heard of any problems....go for it.. i absolutly love it..the sound is amazing
I'll be ordering my parts tomorrow. I "think" just for looks, I may try to keep the air cleaner indicator. We'll see how it goes. My main concern with the elements was, where I work, we have a number of PSD's and this past winter while plowing snow, we had two of them acting like they had fuel gel with almost a total loss of power, just barely running. After the mechanic inspected them, it turned out the stock air boxes were full of snow, and I mean packed solid. I don't mind making a modification as long as it can't have an adverse effect on anything.
