Funny thing about these Honda motors (GX160)...they won't run at all if the switch is in the "off" position. Flip it over to "on" and they fire right up.

Great shot of the Blade flex on the UH1.. it is fun to see one of those up close... the sound of the blade slap is just awesome.... The signature sound of the UH1 and of the Viet Nam war.

Does that pilot land that helicopter there between the fence and the building? Doesn't look like there is much room for error.
Jim
Yes he does. He gets the skids on those little pads you see below them before he takes off. Those are on wheels for towing the heli but he just lands directly on them. Quite amazing.

Great Heli Videos... all in a days work for a pilot. What seems small to the casual observer, seems even smaller to the pilot, but like anything else you get used to it, and it becomes simple. When learning to fly, we would teach pin point drills, and Coordination drills that really are much more difficult than the simple landings in these videos... such as tracing a perfect square in a dirt field with one of the skids, or trying to trace a perfect circle with the skid, My personal fave is tipping over a plastic traffic cone, then sticking the tip of the skid in the bottom, and then moving it to a new location such as a tree stump. the trying to stand it back up.

By the way almost all helicopters can NOT land on a slope greater than 15 degrees for a few reasons 1) Dynamic Rollover the center of gravity cause the bird to tip over, 2) blade Striking the ground while attempting to land. 3) danger of uncontrolled slide down the slope
