good morning everyone and welcome to june! last night we got a call from our very good friend and she had her baby boy last evening at 4-40 he weighs 5lbs and 3oz he was 2 weeks early, but he is a very happy and healthy baby boy!
But what are some things like interstate speeds with a trailer. When we tow our toybox I know we definitely go over the 55mph CA speeds, and usually run at 70ish.
Although I'm sure we'll probably not even be able to tell we have the trailer behind us, since we are helping a somewhat more elderly person move and it isn't our trailer, I think my dad will go a little easier than usually and stick a little more with the speed limits.
Once you get out of CA, most interstate speeds will be 75MPH, with some 80MPH zones in UT. As far as I know, CA is the only western state that makes trailers go slower than cars. Stupid law we have here, and other states have not done that.
BUT - a U-haul trailer will probably have a sign that says 55MPH max. I don't think that is enforceable by law. If something bad happens, you could be liable.
I don't like to tow at more than 65-70MPH. My trailer tires are only rated for 65MPH, which is common on travel trailers. But I don't know what they put on U-hauls.
Gotta be real careful with how you load a cargo trailer.

Ok thanks. Thanks good to know.
Personally driving at those speeds will be no problem and we'll have to chekc to see if there are any limits the uhaul has. I know it is insured at least
Personally I have a big problem with the 55mph trailer law. All speed limit laws are supersceeded by the 'safe for conditions' law. Also, it's a LIMIT. No one says the trucks have to go 70. If they don't think it's safe they won't. So why cap them at 55?? There is TONS of evidence that shows that a variance in traffic speed is dangerous.

I agree, and so does my dad. However we just don't want our elderly traveler to have a heart attack from some excessive speeds/maneuvers with a trailer on the freeway.
Dont' want some repeat of National Lampoons Family Vacation or somethin haha

Well... I also think there needs to be stricter initial license testing and MUCH heavier renewal testing. It's a license. Not a privilege. Any other license (EMT, doctor, pilot etc) needs to be renewed and that includes heavy testing.
Here's a cop set up in a speed trap in a drive way... in front of a no trespassing sign... On the surface its quite comical, but after debate, my girlfriend revealed that VPD SWAT has dummy houses for practice. We decided that was probably one of the houses.
