Orange Blossom Special, always a winner. I am not a bluegrass fan per se, but I do like Orange Blossom Special, and Foggy Mountain Breakdown. (which just happen to be the only 2 songs I know the title of)

So I'm getting my tires at the local Allen Tire Co cuz they had the best price on the tires....they offer free nitrogen inflation, flat repairs, rotation for life, and re-balancing.

I have a question, is nitrogen really better....I'm thinking that the purpose is that instead of just air it won't expand/compress as much with tire heat...but is there any other reasons to go with it? Later on when I refill the tires, it's ok to mix the air and nitrogen right?

Yes, it's okay to top up with regular air, but the theory is that you won't have to.

The nitrogen molecules are larger than the other molecules that make up our atmosphere, so when they're in a tire, there's less chance of leakage over time through the rubber itself. If there is a leak, it's got to be a mechanical problem ie bead, valve stem or core, or a puncture in the tire.

Nitrogen is also known as "dry nitrogen", as it doesn't carry any moisture.

The moisture in your tires' air is what causes higher pressure swings as a function of temperature than nitrogen.

Here is a good article from Popular Mechanics on the subject:

Morning SoCal and to you too Pops!!!

I'll be getting back on a plane this Sunday headed your way again...

Looks to be our last hot hot hot day here in NE Indiana...we've had quite the run of mid-90's!

Small chance of some wet stuff later today...we really need it...this year has been the driest ever since they started keeping records in 1897!

Have a great one everybody!
Joe.

Busy busy...started attacking a couple of trees in the back yard, broke out the chipper/shredder to reduce the size of the piles. It's been sitting for a couple of years but it fired right up and runs well. Going up to Crowley tomorrow for an on-site meeting with the county people and the building inspector; might find enough time to dip a line for a few before turning around to come home.
