This is very disappointing...I really thought he had a chance at it:
I'll Have Another Scratched From Belmont, Ending Triple Crown Bid
I can understand it, though...the last thing the owners would want is for the horse to break down and have to be destroyed.
TV ratings for the race just went into the tank.
EDIT: Heh...you broke from the gate a little quicker than I did, Gail

Yeah, that's too bad. Interest in the race just plummeted. They've been hyping it by replaying the KY Derby on cable, and I assume the Preakness although I didn't see it, as well as playing the movie Secretariat just about every night for the last coupla weeks.

Secretariat is a pretty hokey movie, but I'll still watch it. Diane Laine is one fine looking old broad.
Union Rags will set the pace, but he'll be done going into turn 3.
Order of finish:
Street Life (12 to 1)*, from the pole
Dullahan ( 5 to 1)*, from the 5 slot
Paynter ( 8 to 1)*, from #9
* This mornings odds...I think Street Life will get bet down quite a bit before post time.
Thus ends my handicap...you heard it here first

Yeah, but wouldn't want to own it.

Oh, I dunno...maybe we'll slide out to Los Alamitos
If I do, I'll box that 1-5 just to be safe

Yeah, what a shame.
I am definitely a proponent of preserving the horses' health over the potential cash payoff.

Kind of the same as the picture counting game #151
Secretariat may have been a hokie movie, but he was one helluva horse. If I recall, won the Belmont by 32-33 lengths. The field was just coming around the turn when he took the checkered flag.

Happy Friday Everybody!
Finals week starts tomorrow for me but a week from today I will be celebrating the first day of summer by tearing into the truck and replacing the rusted out steps

Replacing the steps sounds like more fun than taking finals. Best of luck on both, Dave.

I'd much rather take his finals than do his steps.
No pressure on me to PASS the finals

Physics (fluid dynamics, gravitation, capacitance, resistance and magnetism) final tomorrow
Geography (soils, biogeography, climate) Monday
Geology (sedimentation, prehistoric continental movement, paleontology) on thursday morning
And finally chemistry (hybrid orbitals, solutions, nuclear and organic chemistry, crystal formation and phase changes) Thursday afternoon.
Ya I would much rather be replacing the steps even if they are a pain to get at
