Gotta laugh at myself sometimes. Keep yur perspective and don't rush a job.

I see the check valve tool is back, but I like the idea of fixing the old one.

Very cool torch, for pipe sweating?

I may gave to return to my old method of removal with an oversize screwdriver and a ton of downward pressure.

Sean, I would think that a careful application of a grinder or file would restore that tip on the puller.

Is it the type that has long threaded rods to keep the tip mated to the valve during removal?

so i bought a lantern from a member on another forum.... about 2 weeks later i get it in the mail..... smashed, the globe was packed in another box with the lantern and it was turned to bits.

fast forward to today, i got tired of looking at a bent lantern on my desk so i got to straitening the burner cage with a little brute force.

then i took the whole thing apart and gave all the tranished brass a nice vinegar bath followed up with some 0000 steel wool and mothers mag and aluminum polish.

put the whole mess back together and lit it up! its been running for the last 3 hours out on the porch with no apparent problems

now i just need to order a new globe.

So get a globe for it!

One errant, suicidal moth will put a nice hole in a mantle.

Those things are just plain cool -provided you get the mantles to fit.

More light than anything I have ever seen - Edison would have loved them!
