Excellent props and props to you for execution and the leg work!
You may have already posted this, but how much did it cost for your suspension setup?

I got a set of used V and B springs and have had great results so far. Admitedly, I've only had them on about 2 months. New Rancho shocks too.

I gained 2" all the way around on stock blocks.

Agree. X codes designed for trucks with snow plow application.

Awesome....I'm glad you had good luck and your X looks great, I hope they hold up for you. Mine was pretty obvious that 1st or 2nd day that it wasn't enough height. What is your measurement from concrete to wheel well?

Going from memory, concrete to wheel well is about 39" in front; plus 2" in back. Can't tell from my 2nd picture due to hill, but truck does have a forward rake, like the original stance.

Interesting because mine is 39" as well and it seems to low, like said before my tires rub on the inner fender well. 285/75 r16 Michelin AT's

I went with X codes and modded B's w/RAS installed a week ago. I have 1/16th under 4 inches between the front bumpstops. 40 inches from pavement to front fender lips (16's - new tires in stock size). I'm also equal on both sides now instead of sagging on the passenger side.

I don't remember exactly but I think the rear is 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 inches between the bump stops and around 41 inches from pavement to fender lip.

I love the ride now....as well as my wife who hated the floating bounce around feeling. The ride is now firm and gives you a nice secure feeling that it will go where you want it to go without crossing lines on either side while trying to get there.

edit - also did Bilstein shocks and Hellwig bars front & rear

twtcad,

Another option if you do not have the money for new, would be to do a modded V. I took my used V codes to a spring shop and he took one leaf off the springs currently on the truck and clipped them together to give you a 3 leaf spring. He said this would help combat any sag since the V codes were used and not knowing what kind of use they have been through. I gained 3 inches from my originals ( 37 to 40 inches at the center of the wheel well lip) I was just about on the bump stop before. Mine did not rub on the inner fenderwell but I am only running stock 265's

That is an awesome truck, cant remember if you mentioned what tire size youre running, 305?

I have a very slightly used set of X codes and a new set of B's waiting to be modded, also just placed an order with caryt for a few parts. My X has 305/70/16 under it now on stock wheels and with only 3/8" clearance to bump stops surprisingly there is no tire rub. Cant wait to get it standing where it should be.

CT Performance has tried many, many different variations of springs & shocks on Excursions and modded B codes is what they and others recommend. So, for what it is worth IMO - I would mod the B-Codes. In Addition, as Stewart posted, you need to have a final vision of what you are after for the driving conditions you use it for - which includes tire size, overall ride height and suspension characteristics.

For my application the answer was - 2" hanger kit, V codes up front, Modded B codes in the rear with F-350 stock blocks. A lifted Excursion I can run 50 mph across the field and still fit in the garage.

For those that like a stiffer ride or have a custom front bumper, or a winch the X-codes up front are the way to go.

Bottom line : do your homework and decide what is best for you application

Yep, running 305's on 16" rims, IIRC they are 8" wide. I still would like to change over to 18" rims someday.

Very nice, truck had a newer set of 305's when I bought it in February and I dont want to run a bigger tire nor do I need a bigger tire after I do my spring swap. Those 305's fit in your wells nicely, not too stuffed and still looks capable.

Even with only 80k miles on her my X only has 3/8" clearance to the bumpstops, My 97 F350 Crew had a better ride. Cant wait to get this done.

Thanks for the info
