I dont believe in that sixlitre tune up crap.. advanced timing and gapping plugs .45+
Have you even researched what does the "sixlitre tune up crap" involve before posting? you should. It involves just what you mentioned, amongst other things that make it very effective.
You may not wanna hear this but.. The CHEAPEST plugs work best in 351s 302s.. they dont like expensive plugs.. i put e3s in my 351.. it misfires pretty good when warm..
but ngk aint bad.. i dont use them.. try to stick to autolite.. but after extracting 3 broken ones.. that broke flush off with the head.. Lack of maintence..
im not using autolite after this.,.
The plugs I'm using are just standard resistor copper core NGK plugs, nothing fancy. Only thing that's more "fancy" about these NGK plugs is the center electrode, it's got a V notch in it, only thing out of the ordinary. I noticed a smoother idle with the NGK's since I replaced the Autolite 24's with them.
Wow i didn't notice so many posts haha. Well i ended up getting the Autolites already before reading these... I did go to Walmart for them since it was closer than autozone. I also plan to gap at .050 to see what it does. Since i spent under $10 for 6 plugs if they crap out earlier down the road i won't be shedding tears. These are also just plain old copper 25's. I figure cheap plugs will match most of the other stuff on the engine currently.
Also on the 6 liter tune up, i am not looking to do a full tune up. Just replacing plugs. I don't need to play with timing since it is pretty much where it needs to be. Some day don the road i might research into it and see if it is even applicable for my motor but as of now if i can get it to run smoother cold and hot using just spark plugs, i will be happy.
On another note.. I went to the store to get 6 plugs, i ended up coming home with 6 plugs, 3 pumpkins, a bottle of Frosttop rootbeer, some beef jerky, and some hard candy... Sometimes things just don't go as planned
I've got my timing at 14* BTDC, and while it runs great there. It has a slight occasional ping on re start when it first fires off, I guess I should retard it to 12* BTDC lol.

List :
Motorcraft plug wires
Cheapest spark plugs you can get
Rotor
Cap..
I wouldn't try it
Well i got the plugs in. But not without TGM putting up a fight. I whacked my head on the hood when i was getting out of the engine bay, and i broke one of the old plugs in the back on the driver side. I'm glad it was just the ceramic part. The plugs on the driver side weren't nearly as bad looking as the passenger side. Plus my exhaust leak is worse on the passenger side.. That will probably be addressed after i sell my ranger and find a bug that i like. Then i can let the bronco rest while i fix stuff on it.
I have replaced the cap, rotor, wires, wires, plugs, rest of the distributor, along with all the other ignition parts. Though i went with cheaper parts due to not having a whole lot of money. Eventually i plan to upgrade.
I've never tried grease before, but I suppose it works about as good. We've had a small can of anti seize open for about 15 years and it's still mostly there, and we use that stuff a lot. Shows how far it goes lol
Do you ever use anti seize on sparkplugs? it makes it very easy to remove them the next time lol. I use a ton of that stuff.
Nope, i have used it way back in high school when i did auto tech class but never remembered to grab any when i went to the store. I haven't had many issues when i don't use it, just that when i break them loose i hit my hand on something. Surprisingly there were only a couple that were lightly hard to get out. The reason one broke was cause the angle of the socket. It was being pushed forward by the brake pedal linkage and just snapped the ceramic.
I do need to grab some at some point when i am at the store...

Yeah, when you get some get the $10 bottle of it, you'll pretty much have that bottle for the rest of your life lol. I broke a plug the same way on #4 cylinder taking my old ones out.
