Yeah. I'm waiting for the day when my drive line snaps or my axle explodes... I took off from a stop sign at the Costal farm store and heard quite a noisy bang when i really stepped on it.

List :
Motorcraft plug wires
Cheapest spark plugs you can get
Rotor
Cap..
I wouldn't try it
So you aren't into maintenance... hmmm... interesting. Btw, NOBODY said "the cheapest", they say COPPER core spark plugs, and you should get the ones appropiate for the engine, from reputable brands, the same goes with the cap, rotor, and coil (which you failed to mention). I personally use Motorcraft spark plugs and wires.
Now, you also mention advancing the timing, which is basically what you do with the sixlitre tune-up. Now would you please elaborate on the reasons why you wouldn't try it? (even though from your own comments here you're basically advicing it: greater gapping, advancing the timing, etc...).
It sounded more from the rear end or trans/t-case area... I'm not too concerned cause i drove it to the junk yard over in Auburn earlier and it did just fine.

Hm no one ever said I wasn't into maintenance.. that why I bought a truck that needed a tune up badly.. 3 broken plugs that broke off flush with the head?? I had to extract them with reverse tap..
Encho I'm not gonna argue about his tune up.. I'm not gonna try it and that's it..
Advanced timing 12-14* rotor, cap, copper plugs, coil, motorcraft plugs, bigger gaps..
If you did u joints not too long ago.. see if the driveshaft has any play in it.. check u bolts.. maybe rear diff needs fluid.. umm.. tcase / trans bushings
I do need to check the u joints. I guess I can say I did them recently when I had my trans rebuilt. I also should look at checking diff fluid, I have never checked it :/ I can look into the tranny mount and t-case mount to make sure the bolts are tight. I should have someone stand and watch the axle as I romp on the gas and take of.
Not that i know of. The diff along with everything else is covered in muck from the rear main seal leak. I have wanted to stick a camera under my truck just to watch the suspension and everything move. It would be interesting to see. Unfortunately i can't afford a camera that i wouldn't mind accidentally destroying.
