New Transmission

After much soul searching and pocket book debates the AOD is the winner. I'll be putting a J.W. Performance Ultra Bell Bellhousing behind it and calling it a day. Hopefully this truck will be drivable again soon.

Looking good!
The Ford blue engine looks great against all that black

Will you have it done by April? The Park in the Park show is the last weekend of April. It would be a great venue to debut your truck

Good luck
Bobby

I need to research that I guess... Because the bellhousing on an aod is built onto the trans case. Can you post a link or give any more info. I'm at work til 2am so it's tough to research.

I just looked up that company.
They don't disclose how the get the aod to bolt up to the bbf.
I remember seeing on tv a company that bade a bell housing for a 727 to another engine, and they had to cut the bell housing off the case, and then the front pump bolts held the new bellhousing onto the trans. I'm curious if this is the same type.

I'm very interested in pictures and stuff.
Let me know when you get the trans in and are ready to go for a test drive. There are some things you need to be aware of before you go out on the road.

Yes, This is the same type. The fact that you have to cut the bell housing is disclosed on their website and their retailers inform you during the buying process.

Transmission should be finished Monday. Since the bellhousing is being dropped shipped directly from J.W. I'm hoping it will be here too. Need to figure out this torque converter and I think I'm in the home stretch.

Tranny cooler lines were installed last week along with all the belts and fluids.

On a side note I NEED windows and a power window kit along with latches to make this thing more pleasant to drive. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of breaking down and buying the Trique kit for the latches but for one piece glass and power windows does anyone know of any inclusive (reasonable) good quality kits or sellers who have them?

Did you already cut the bellhousing? I hope so. I'm concerned of the shavings and grindings.
Power windows, look into an 80s van. They are same style door as 74-79 trucks, you may be able to retrofit the stuff.

I'm having second thoughts about the J.W. Performance Bellhousing for the AOD. After speaking to them today they will not start production of my bellhousing until the end of the month.

Has anyone had experience with the Lakewood bell housing? According to the directions it does not require that the stock bell be cut. I'm going to look into this more tomorrow.

Lakewood brand | Part #: RM-9057
