I'm having second thoughts about the J.W. Performance Bellhousing for the AOD. After speaking to them today they will not start production of my bellhousing until the end of the month.
Has anyone had experience with the Lakewood bell housing? According to the directions it does not require that the stock bell be cut. I'm going to look into this more tomorrow.
The Part You list from lakewood says it fits a fe big block thats not going to work with a 429/460 big block. I have used a JW bellhousing with a powerglide and a 460, It was a well part. Good Luck
You lost me with the universal accordion lower radiator hose.
Why???
I believe it was what i brought them when I dropped off the truck a few months back. Since it work I'm not worried about it for now but I'm sure I'll keep it on my list of things to do. Right now I got a few larger fish to fry like my door latches, mouting the bed, wiring, the transmission, ect.
Thank you for the feedback though I notices the little things too.
I always double check by calling but thank you again gentlemen for the thoughts.
I'm trying to decide on this one or the J.W. since they both require cutting the J.W. is in the lead due to $$$. I'm trying to figure out from users that may have had feedback but it sounds like both are good.
The 332,352,360,361 truck,390,390 truck, 406,410,427,428 are all FE series. (I think I forgot one or two smaller ones)
"385" series only includes 370 truck, 429, and 460.
I would get the jw one. It's cheaper and as long as turn around time isn't months, then I'd risk it. The Lakewood one is so much more... And unless you really want that sfi approval, I wouldn't spend the extra.
What exactly did they do for a rebuild. How much hp are they claiming. Did they Dyno the trans. What is their warranty.
And most important
Make sure you get instructions on how to set it up. How much idle pressure should it have at the test port. Ask them if you bring the vehicle to them, if they would double check it for you (because they are going to warranty it)
The 385 series engine included the 370, 429 and 460 and was produced in the Lima, Ohio engine plant. It did not include the Cleveland engines. It refers to the length of the stroke in the 460 engine.

You are so right, Clevelands are members of the 335 series

They put a performance shift kit, new planetary gear, and changed all wear parts. Yes, the transmission is dyno'd and their warranty is 36 mos or 36,000 miles. Knowing me I'll more than likely hit 3 years before the miles.
We've agreed to have them adjust the trans due to delays in the build it will be at no charge.
