well she finally got a bath and the summer wheels put back on. i'm thinking the left front wheel bearing is going though. when changing tires i try to check everything and it did not want to roll very easily by hand. ontop of that i can hear the slightest "whirling" type noise that is speed dependent in the left front area. so when i go to the parts store and get a left front bearing for my 2001 explorer which is really bad i'll pick one up for the expedition also and change it out.
after the summer wheels were put on, still filthy dirty.
25" cherry bomb glass pack in place of the stock muffler, very mild but you know its there. i like it!
I've been thinking about something like that on mine.
Also, I like where you mounted the Sub. I was thinking of mounting mine on the other side beside the 40 split. I usually keep the other "60" down and like the space. I like to keep the passenger side up and used as a jump seat.
yeah i keep my seats up as i use them all the time. really wish my expy had a 3rd row..oh well thats what the excursion is for i guess LOL
so i stopped by CarQuest after work and picked up a new wheel bearing. got home and started on it. found a few..interesting things. first i'm pretty sure these are stock rotors as it did NOT want to come off very easy. i need to upgrade to cryo treated Power Slots soon anyhow. second the wheel bearing was totally wrapped in 50lb test fishing line?!?! wtf?!? it was all wound up in it. once i got it out you could feel the bearing was just starting to go bad. also the "sealed" unit was puking grease. it was a good time to replace it. all in all took about 1.5 hours taking my time and BSing with my dad as i went.
took her for a test drive after, just as smooth as ever. got rid of the very very slight whirling noise i was hearing. think i should be good for awhile.
the old bearing
i grabbed one of these license plate holders off a truck that came up from California..thought it was cool.
fishing line! what did that thing come from homer or seward?
it was bought brand new in anchorage by Nabors drilling and used as a extra truck for most of its life(people coming into town..ect). part of that life included checking on part of there subsidiary company in Valdez..my best guess is thats where it came from? otherwise i'm stumped!
rolled 89k and the other half...same one that rear ended a cop with the expy scraped a van in a parking lot!! no damage to the Expy but took out both doors on the van. UGH! says something about that front bumper though haha
