Thank you very much for decoding it. So it is a correct bucket seat truck?
I don't know, but with a 6 digit Domestic Special Order number, something special was installed after the truck left the assembly line.
The problem is, FoMoCo THREW AWAY all the records for these trucks decades ago, so there's no way to find out what was 'special.'
And btw: It's not 100% original as the Custom Cab anodized aluminum grille and chrome headlamp doors have been replaced with a painted steel grille, painted headlamp doors from a Standard Cab.

Just maybe the grill/headlight doors were part of the DSO? and it was ordered this way

Well the only thing I see that could possibly be "special" is the bucket seats and console combo. You guys can split hairs all you want but as far as I'm concerned that data plate appears to be from ford motor company and clearly shows something special was installed . the original owner whom I purchased it from claims 100 % original. As far as the grille, I apologize if my pictures weren't very clear. It does have the anodized grille. If you zoom in, it's obvious.

It very easily could have been ordered with the painted grille.
But the painted grille has not repainted correctly...and once the grille was repainted, that nullifies the 100% original factor.
And the grille and painted headlamp doors would not have been a Domestic Special Order installed after the truck left the assembly line since both were RPO's.

It has the correct anodized grille! As far as vertical bars being black, yeah they were when new but it was just paint. 40 plus years in the sun and that paint is long gone dude.

I see what you're saying. In small size pics grille looks painted but once you save pic to phone or computer and zoom in it is obvious it is not painted but is just very oxidized aluminum and the black ND is referring to is just faded away like many of the original aluminum grilles. The sun being at the angle it is in the pic also makes the aluminum more "whitish". As to the rest of the truck, again zooming in, my guess is the passenger fender has been repainted at some point and the paint (and maybe bondo) is cracking & peeling.

That's quite possible on an old vehicle. It needs completely restored. But I guess it may be worth doing since it's complete . I may not tackle it , I've got enough projects already.
It is possible the XL package (bucket seats etc.) was purchased with this vehicle, due to it having a DSO number. It is all the evidence you need to prove your truck is equipped with something special. So basically any '64 with a DSO number could be converted to a factory bucket seat truck ( there are no permanent records to prove otherwise). You don't have this luxury in '65 or '66, since the DSO XL package became the documented Ranger package on warranty plate.

I agree, it is hard to tell from the pics but it is an anodized grill with a lot of age/weather/sun. ND will need to get out the glasses
