I went through this thread to see what were some of the rarest options. It became obvious that what options were available depends on the year, and therefore you can't really compare different years. Especially since no Ford records are available. However, the really rare options IMO are the ones few people have ever seen.
So in no particular order, I think it's fair to say the following qualify as some of the rarest options (my top 5 picks). Of course my lack of knowledge of the 61 to '64 models skews the results.
1. Vinyl roof (never seen one)
2. Transistorized ignition ('66 only) (never seen one)
3. XL bucket seats ('64 only) (never seen one)
4. Dealer A/C ('66 only) (I've only seen in pictures, although I have a '66 F250 that appears to have had it at one time)
5. "64 Camper Special
I don't consider the one off race truck to be a true "option" since it was a 3rd party package and only a handful were built at best (maybe just 1 or 2). I also didn't include one off colors from a DSO. I limited my list to options that were installed at either the factory or the dealer.
So, what would your top 5 list be?

Reason: grammar
In the owner's manual, there is reference to a diesel engine.
I imagine this would be a very rare option, IF Ford actually produced the vehicle.
Not an F series, but my previous '64 Econoline Heavy Duty pickup with it's Dagenham four speed is probably rare.

What year(s) was a diesel available? If Ford never actually produced one I wouldn't include it in my list.

One of only 4, wow! Certainly an F250 Ranger would also be very desirable whereas a vinyl roof not so much. Maybe I should revise the list to say "rare and desirable".

There are pictures of a couple of others I have that are fairly beat up and sitting somewhere rotting away, but this is a nice 1964 with factory bucket seats.

That's cool! According to the MPAC, (at least the way I'm interpreting it) the Camper Special badge trumps the Ranger badge on the fender, and there were 2 different versions of the Camper Special badge for '65, before 600,001 it was the shield with just FORD on it, and from 600,001 it was the elongated oval with FORD 250 on top. So which one did your truck come with?

The dash mounted coffee pot surely must be one rare option... or was it part of the package in '64?
Hmmmm, I can't say I've seen the coffee pot on any option list for '64...??
I'd guess it is more likely to be a "JCWhitney accessory"!
Do you fellas really believe those backup lights and the tailgate were factory-equipped in 1964? Well, I'm not buying it......
Although I'm confident they are not factory, I do like the two, square, period-correct gauges at lower left of the dash pod and the vacuum gauge and tachometer located on the column.
Nevertheless, it is one nice old truck... too bad they didn't let us get a peek of what is under the hood.
