I have found an original 64 sport f100. How rare are they?
Pretty rare. Looks legit. Thanks for posting photos. Your truck provides even more evidence factory bucket seat trucks with carpeting and consoles existed in '64. In '65, this package was offically named "Ranger", in '64 this was a "special order bucket seat" option without indentification emblems. 1964 was a turning point as far as Ford trying to civilize its pickups with more car like features.
A lot of people seem to think ford never built a 64 with buckets and console. This truck came from a Kansas cattle farmer who bought it new and has not changed anything according to him. It sure appears to be original. I may clean it up and leave it unrestored
The funny thing is I stumbled across it looking at a vista cruiser wagon. Saw the buckets and thought it was a 65 til I saw the y block and straight front axle.
Congratulations, you will be number six on my page of five other '64 F100's that have the conversion from bench to Bostrom "THIN LINE" Model L01052 with hinged back bucket seats and '64 Falcon Console. I believe the bottoms of the consoles are trimmed different than the hardtop Falcon's console. Mine and the other DSO65 truck have a really cheesy heavy grain vinyl tank cover, if it's still there I bet this one will be the same. The seats are typical, as far as their condition right down to the rat turds. What ever you do don't call it a Ranger or MENSA will be on you like a ton of bricks. I'm not even convinced they are "Sport Package" units until someone comes up with a brochure or Ford published description. Very cool find! Why three of these trux were ordered out of the OKC DSO is a real puzzle. I'll be glad to PM you what information I have.
Does have the carpet, gas tank vinyl curtain, buckets, console, zipper pocket in door. All original to this truck. Impossible to determine if original, FoMoCo THREWAWAY all the records decades ago.

DSO 650173:
65: Oklahoma City Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
0173 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by original purchaser, not bought "off the lot."
6 digit DSO: Something was ordered special that was not an RPO (Regular Production Order). The thing is, there's no way to determine...today...what was "special."
Since there is no parts catalog reference for Domestic Special Order part(s), dealer contacts FoMoCo with 6 digit DSO.
FoMoCo looks up the order number, then either gives the dealer the part number(s), or tells the dealer where the special part(s) can be found.
Looks like a very rare truck to me with the numbers ND ran on it!Is it a short bed or long?Is it for sale?Do they have a title for truck?Just curious!Sorry,I guess the "wheelbase" answered one question!
Thank you guys for the info. I really appreciate it. It came from a farmer near Kansas city and I'm not sure if I want to tackle the restoration or not. Last count I had 17 cars I think. If I decide to sell it I will post it here. It does still have the vinyl tank cover. Cab is very solid but bottom of bed is shot and hood is rusty.
Hi guys I'm two days new to this forum and its my first forum to ever join. I have a 61 uni shorty 2wd. Small window. Origanum a 292 4 spd floor shift. My dad bought it in the very early eighties. I've owned since 1993. The number 143 shows up in some sort of paint crayon or marker in various places under hood, on firewall engine side, and under dash can anybody tell me what it stands for. I'm just getting ready to do a crown vic frt end swap and drop in a 1968 429 thunder jet survivor engine and c6 trans. I am I western pa ( rust belt ). I read thru all 27 pages of this post. I have seen the f100 xl at Carlisle all ford nat. 2012 it was there as part of a 427 invitational. I have to tell you it and all other 427 powered were astonishing to say the least. The owner that raced it was there. Truck had all kinds of docs. & pics. Including the dearborn tube and steel docs. So it is real and yes engine was in and the owner would run it about once an hour. But any help you can give on the #143 thing would be great. Thanks and have a great day.
Your #143 is what is called the ROT (ROTation) number that would have been on the build sheet. Here's a scan of the build sheet from one of my trucks. It's the number in the upper left corner. Basically it is the number of that truck on that day. A way for the assembly plant to keep track of which was which. I've seen the number of the firewall, inside the fenders, on the bed in more than one place depending on series, and on the top edge of the dash bezel, to name a few.
Of course the XL is real, I know him. Here is pic of me in front of it when we unearthed it under 35 yrs. Of crap, i was honored to push it out and clean it up
