compared to the IDI, yes, a ton more of power. i was always driving a powerstroke, i got the IDI for the conversion, so i didnt really drive it that much.
I just caught that about your mishap with the DP mod.. Grr! Thankfully its not a huge issue!
I am still "not moving" fast! LOL! This coming week I am hoping for major advancements as it starts to cool down. This last week has still been between 108-111 degrees, so its unbearable in shop. I did get the rest of the heater assembly out of the cab, put in the new gas pedal with sensors, and working on the cab electrical a little here and there.
I dont expect mine to be up and going for a bit still. I am waiting on a break in the weather to cool down, and its also a $$ as I am putting lots of new parts in as I go. My shopping list is still a little long..
New Batteries are next, then hoses, oil, and finally exhaust! Pics real soon though!
Great thread and project. Your rust free stuff is nice, that project is not as realistic up here. At any rate, I didn't see where you've checked axle ratios - be sure they are the same before you lock the hubs.
Fun project indeed! The donor engine didn't look bad at all when it was dirty and then seeing it clean, it looks like it just came off the line! Good luck with the truck!

LOL.. No worries there.. I am not keeping the same gears in my rear axle. I had posted pics of the rear gears and planitary unit that I took out of the donor truck. They are the 4.10LS and I am stuffing them in mine, so my truck will have the same gears up front and in the rear that the donor truck came with originally!

Thank ya! Many things I cleaned up and refinished.. I hate mucking around under a dirty one! It made sense to clean it up as well since I also threw new seals, o-rings, GPs, sensors and so on, in it.. Why not!
i wish i had the time/money to do it your way. anyway, got to use it to go to work today,85 mi round trip, and crossing a 24mi bridge. no problems but the jury is still out on the 4.10 gears. i cleand up the paint a little, got new simulators for the front, should get the stacks in tomorrow and finish up the not important in cab wiring, and here it is...
I figured with all the tear down and puting back together, I may as well bite the bullet and do it this way.. With the kinda luck I have, I have to go slow! LOL!
