Thank ya'll.. It has been a long time waiting! It really shouldnt have taken as long as it did, but now its done!
I accomplished completing a solid PS, low miles, unabused, well maintained, and all for well under $8k! Its nice having all the options it could have come with!
Its not the end by ay stretch btw.. LOL.. I have to level the truck still, put some more goodies on, get the body work done, and go from there! Right now its at the alignment shop getting last adjustments done before making its 900 miles journey to the new homestead! Thanks everyone for the encouragement and interest!!!!!
Back home, lol, to northern Wyoming. To sum it up, I was made an offer by my sister ranch, merged on the buy out, and will be managing a guest ranch there while I continue to train and compete with my stock. An unexpected turn, thats for sure!
I got the truck back from the alignment shop today... Close to $400 in adjustments! Needed new camber pins with some wild angles due to the height increase on the front axle. All worth it, knowing its now in true alignment. I did limp it to the shop with a -10" toe in. Yikes! But all is good now. I did finally get a chance to light her up a bit, take off and get up to highway speed afterwards.. runs like a raped ape! Cruise control works too! LOL! So far, lots of fun!
That was just the start! LOL! From what has been gathered, the pump driving the fluid into the TC failed, it bealched fluid all over the interstate during my move. The OD light started flashing, the tranny was a gonner. Due to the circumstances I wish I would have had more time to check out the truck under driving conditions, but I had a move to make and was already late. It did end up in storage about a 3rd of the way to my destination, but it ran like a champ (except for the trans)!
I had a 6% uphill grade pass to make it over on my trip when the tranny failed. Before it did, I was hauling another car and all my shop stuff and household items. I was loaded pretty heavily, and cruised up the summit with the engine temp never reaching over the "N" of "Normal".. The EGT's stayed nice and low, and it had lots of power to go! I didnt push it over 65mph as I wanted the best economy, but it ran like a champ!
In a few months I will have the truck back out of storage, and plan to outfit it with a BTS. After all the $$ I dropped into everything else on it, the tranny was the last thing to do!
Me too! LOL! I am pretty confident it will.. The motor was solid and tight, suspension up to speed, electrical is awesome, just that transmission issue...... Which by the way, will be a thing of the past. I have to take a trip soon to go pick up the new ZF6 I am going to swap out the E4OD for.
I havent had a chance to get on due "technical difficulties", LOL!
I just read this thread start to finish and wow just wow... Outstanding work! Hows the new ranch ?
Thank ya! The new ranch has definitely been keeping me very busy! I guess the neat thing behind this ranch, is the variety of PS Diesels I keep running and working with! I have an EGR cooler delete to do soon on a 6.4, working on another 96 PS, so I am getting my PS fix in! LOL!
I do finally have a lead on shippers, who can get my truck up here! Whew! And to top it off, I have a deal going on a ZF-6 package (swap parts too) down in Denver to get, so slowly its coming back together!
