So have you ran the engine yet? I am swapping my 88 crewcab body onto a 95 crewcab powerstroke that was rolled.
No, not yet.. Havent made it to that point yet. There are many expenses going into this, and much work to still finsih up before I get to that point of turning the key. I figure by the first of the year it will be going. I will even post a vid of it going too!
I am in the process of replacing every hose, line, belt, batteries, cables, filters, and so on. Its essentially going to be service free by the time its done!
I finally found the pics of the new front backet, and with the install.. I dumped alot of my photos onto disc as I was running out of space, LOL!
Anyways, here it is...
Here it is installed...
I used a section of box steel tubing with an inside diameter of 2". I had the one side removed, then drilled out for the hanger bolt. I also attached a couple of grade 8 bolts through it to attach it to the frame, help hold it in place, and the welded the new bracket to the frame. This also provided a couple more inches of lift too, LOL!
I am.. My MIG is taking a complete dump on me, and I dont have a 220 for my ARC in my shop. I enlisted the help of a nieghbor who has a welding truck to come over and rerun some bead on there!
Well it's taken me about an hour and a half to read this thread... You're doing a great job! And there is a TON of valuable information in this thread. Way to go!
Cody.. When I put that bracket under the frame, as compared to in the frame.. WOW.. Talk about some lift there, LOL! I need to read up on an RSK! I have to, and I do mean "have to" get longer U-Bolts for the rear axle and some blocks.. There is some serious height difference as compared to what it started out as!
SDElwood.. Thank you! I wondered how many would stroll along and read the entire thing, LOL! Its great that it has provided you tons of good info! More info to come too! The project is nearing completion!
Speaking of completion.. Spent a good amount of the day today under the truck! I am finishing up odds and ends while I wait on parts! I have a list that started out to be a page long not too long ago, now its just a few here and there. The drive line went off to the shop to get lengthened, a call into rough country was made (getting longer u-bolts for the rear), wiring checking, guard plates snugged, lines checked and rechecked, body alignment adjustments made.. Its coming along! I am shooting for the 16th for it to be all done and running.. lets see what happens!
Just made me think of something. Whenever I start a project like this, I always create a list. And I ALWAYS put as the last thing on the list "Wash it." I am always so excited to be washing my new toy, cuz that means I'm done. Never thought a bucket of soap and a hose could be so fulfilling.
