Does ur shift lever hit anything not letting it shift completely into gear?
going into low the shifter travels lots feels like it should be all the way into gear but it doesnt click...going into hi i have to quickly yank it back to get it to click into gear...thing is the shifter never moves when it pops out? that ive notcied and it will pop out then back in once the rpms drop back down a bit...if it pops out and i keep the rpm up it stays out and te shifter wont move any further into the gear...its almost like the shift fork is not in the collar or something but then you wouldnt think it would shift at all
This is what I found this weekend when I set out to fix this 205 transfer case I've had laying around for a long time that was stuck in 4low. I had planned to throw it in the truck, not anymore! I'm surprised I broke the shift linkage before this weld on the inside. I dont know who's nice work this was but some people should not be allowed to touch certain things. In this case.... Vehicles and welders.
Is the front out put like that too? If not twin stick... Umm, single stick it, and have front axle selection only. 99% of the time my wheelir is in low range....

As far as I can see the front output is fine and while the two rails are still connected the front side moves a little and the range side doesn't. If I were to just disconnect the two shift rails, the outside rail wouldn't need to be modified to select 2 and 4 wheel correct? I don't know about using this case. Who knows what else is going in there. I'll use it for mock up and get another one later. I'd like to be able to shift this thing into whatever I wanted.
In that tcase, both rails are a "range" shifter. The one closest to the rear out put controls the rear H-N-L setting, and the otherone is for the Front H-N-L. But if u just have the one for the front conected how that case is, it *should* only be able to hit N-L.

only if its twin sticked...if the shift rails are unmodified they have to move together they shouldnt be able to move seperately thanks to the shuttle pin that runs through the case between the rails...and locates itself on the groves we modified so that we could twin stick em...so even if you only have one rail hooked up it *should* not be able to shift at all because the other one has to move with it to allow the shuttle pin to move
