eh, I'm just being a cranky bastartd since I can't sleep. I'm 7 hours ahead of you guys and my sleep patteren is all messed up. Left DC at 10:40 pm last night, took a 16.5 hour direct flight to Dubai. went to bed at 11pm this time and I've been wide awake since 4am. This is the exact reason I drank so much last summer on my mid-east trip, to get my sleep patterns back to normal! Gotta find a bar tonight!
correct for the most part. just to be a smart@$$, the case split on a d44 is 3.92 and down, and 4.09 and up. so yes since you didn't buy a "thick" gear set, you will need a new carrier. jeff's bronco grave yard sells them for cheap. D44 Open carrier complete, 3.93 - 5.38

close enough, at least you got the gist of it. As for the notch, it really doesn't need to be that much, just enough to slide the c-clips in. Of course you could have fixed all of that with a set of c-clip eliminators which uses a pressed on bearing like a 9".....
well...i bought R&P gears for a 75 ford dana 44....and i just looked and it says standard rotation?...but it does not say anything about using a different carrier... this is the bad side of summit, they make a lot of mistakes, ive heard that a lot recently...thats okay if i can get the rear end done ill be able to hold off for a while...till they send me the right gears apparently
i was thinking about the eliminator kit but i dont wanna run this axle more than a year so whatever
So, if you only want to run the axle for a year, why are you changing gears? Also, the gears for a Ford front D44 can be swapped from(I'm not 100% on the begining year) 74 or 75 to 96. I don't see why you would spend $$ if you don't really know what you are buyin.
and they say your kinda slow cause you're from canada, aye!!!! silly canuck, it goes back to wood shop in h/s, measure twice, cut once. read up, don't buy until you read again.

because i am sick as hell of these 3.55s...the plan was going up to one tons in the future and build them throw em in then either sell the 1/2 tons or buy another 80-96 SAS it and sell it

aye?...aye? you ****ing butt pirate??? aye? what the hell is that...IT SPELLED EH! and you say im the slow one
hey when you are buying gears from summit and you puch in 1975 FORD dana 44 front axle you kinda assume that only the gears that will fit/work will appear...guess not eh...im gonna call tomorrow and see how long its gonna take to get the right gears...because i found them...one below the ones that are wrong???
do you know if you have a high or low pinion 44? they have low pinion listed for a 75. either way you need a new carrier, but figure out if you have a high/low pinion, cause you might have the right gears
im pretty sure the gears i got do not require the new carrier...some of the other ones list that a new carrier is required and some dont....mine doesnt...but then again, it doesnt say "thick gear" either
the reason i went with summit is because they are the best place for me to buy...im under 18 and i live in canada...paying and shipping ****in BLOWS when you are me....nobody else will accept any method of payment i can do...except money order but that takes too ****ing long
EDIT:: i checked out that link dan and i like the site...except they have zero shipping/billing information....wtf? lol
i've bought some stuff from them online with a debit card. this may sound dumb, but do you have walmarts in canada? because if you don't have a bank account with a debit card, just get one of those reloadable debit/credit cards from wally world. accu auto doesn't have the cheapest prices, but they do have a lot of special offers from time to time, and they are a good site to use as a reference for parts info.i bought my 4.56 gearset for my 10.25 from them for $200 on sale, now they're listed at $247, so if you check there often you can find deals

its still the shipping that kills me...summit ships for free to this place called at the border storage then i can have truckers i know pick my stuff up there on their way through...only costs 5 bucks to store one box there for the first 14 days...
and their prices aare the same as summit i think...if i remember correctly they are

i havent seen one PN with a T in it yet...so youre basically telling me they dont make them
They make them, its more common in a D60 though I think. The T would be on the gears them selfs, not all places use the manufacture part # on there web sites.
ill have to go take a look at that...then probably send them back...and maybe buy off that palce or JBG...looks like ima have to get a carrier from them unless i find thick gears...
