I wouldn't put it in a Ford, I'd put it in a Kaiser Jeep
Seriously though, if I ever get the chance, I am going to put together a Kaiser Jeep (or J-Series truck if I can't find the Kaiser version) and it's going to have a Detroit. Probably a 6V53T if I can find one.
It'll be fun to pull up to lights next to Cummins Dodge trucks and let 'em have a listen to how a diesel oughta sound.
Now if I were planning an engine swap for a Ford, I'd be looking at a 4.0L I6 out of a Jeep...those are tough little motors that get decent mileage. I've wondered how it'd handle being in a pickup...
I put down call for price. Because I don't know exactly yet. Thankfully because more snow is on the way, no one in their right mind would buy a 4x2, so I can play with the price a bit
I'd say tomorrow is probably the best day to get it done. Don't go on the 24th, that will come back and bite you harder than ever.
(speaking from years of retail experience)
I usually go 2-3 days after. Less crowds and lots of deals. Anybody that knows me isn't surprised by the late presents. Lets you seperate your stuff from the flurry ,too.
Of course if it's your wife or kids, that doesn't work.
