Is there an easy way to unhook elec plugs, like those 3 that go from duraspark box to distributer? The first(and only one) i have done so far, i broke both "ears"

Thats a good question. i typically go at them with my hands and if that doesn't work a flat head screwdriver being as gentle as possible. When they get old though they seem to get brittle and break.

In one of the Chiltons manuals I have it actually says, if you break a connector or the connector is loose use a strap or tape to secure it back in place, do not replace it.

I replaced the TFI female ignition control plug on the distributor on my 84 F150 351W because the original was real loose. I figured putting this new piece on would be preventative. Hooked it all up and then got no spark. So i cut the new piece off, put the old one back on and wrapped electrical tape around it to secure it in place. Works just like it should now.

I hate it when that happens.

I have never found a fix for it.

You do the best you can and still break them off.
You dont really need them, a cable tie will work fine.

My truck idles high after I've driven it for a while and it is hot. Anywhere I should start looking? The throttle is closing, and the idle is set fine when it is cool.

How about your Choke, is it operating properly?
I had the same issue, when the truck got warm, the choke wasn't functioning, which resulted in messed up idling.

It idles high at startup due to the choke, but it lowers when I hit the gas to open the choke (shouldn't have to do that, should I?). Stays normal until I've driven it a while and gotten it hot.

did you try choke/carb cleaner? after that, all i can think of is, a metal part getting hot and expanding, and somehow binding up

Carb was completely rebuilt before I started driving it. Runs fine except high idle.

you should be able to adjust the idle. theres a mixture screw towards the bottom on the passenger front side of the carb. i dont remember if theres a high idle adj on those carbs or not but if you cant set it right then id check vacuum lines and valves next. does it have elect. choke?

Like I said, the idle is fine at start up. It would die if it were any lower.
