my old 66 with a 352 had 286 thousand miles on it and speedo was broken for 4 years. my dad bought it new and the only thing that went on engine was the water pump. still got 23 miles to the gallon . burnt 1 liter oil every 9-10 tanks of fuel. wish i still had that old truck
Last I saw the record was held by a 1963 VW beetle, had over 1,000,000 personal use miles. This of course doesn't include over the road trucks or anything like that, just private vehicles.
i have a 1966 f-100 4x4 with the original 352, and np435 in it. has 277,673 miles on it. its a daily driver. runs great starts with the TOUCH of the key at -10 f or at 105. thats why say its built ford tuff. only problem ive had is i let my brother in law use it for a while. he seemed to find a way to spin both rear wheel bearings and. other than that its cherry
I got a 1991 BMW 525I in Germany with American Spec's in 1996. It had about 40,000 miles on it then. Now is has 270,000 miles and I have not had to replace anything other than the batteries, brakes and a seat cover!
The head to the stick shifter also had to be replaced because I wore it through.
My buddy's '69 GMC P/U has over a million miles, everything mechanical has been replaced several times though, the body is original, it's one ugly truck dents, body puncture, rust you name it's got it. Hauls *** though, 400hp 350 w/ 700R4.
I got a cousin that has a 1988 Chevy half ton pickup with the 6.2 diesel motor in it and it has 923,000 miles on it and nothing has been done to it, it just blew the fuel pump and they don't know if they should put a new one in or park it. We have a 1983 Chevy full size van with the 6.2 diesel in it and it has 260,000 on it and still going strong with nothing major done to it, we just replaced the oringinal starter.
Must be lucky, our '83 C-10 on the farm has the 6.2L/700R4 curse with 125,000 miles. It ran fine until it was about 7 or 8 years old, except for 3 trannies during that time, then it started having lots of issues with the engine. Right now it needs to be retimed again, it fights itself while idling, and when you press the pedal it runs very rough, as well as belches blue smoke out the rear pipes, also needing tranny #5. I believe it will be parked in the edge of the woods the next time the tranny dies again.
My 1985 f 250 6.9l was sold with 260,000 on it.
My 1991 VW Jetta has 252,000 on it.
My 1985 Toyota truck has 265,000 on it.
My 2000 Toyota tacoma has 150,00 and counting on it.
Been awhile since ive been here but readin this article, im impressed with some of the mileage records im seein. I dispise cummins diesels with a passion but there are gettin to be more and more with over 600k miles on the 5.9s in dodge pu's. There's one runnin round the US with over 1,000,000 miles on the original motor, never a major overhaul. When, and if, it reaches 2 Mil., cummins is thinkin bout buyin it from him and givin him a new one in place of it.
Personally put a few vehicles over 300k on the original engine and transmissions.
Seen two dodge cummins with over 500k miles. No engine work.
They have a few dodge cummins posted on different websites with over a million. The dodge dealership in vegas owns another one and shows it off out front.
My IDI has over 200k on it. It aint gonna goa to 300 though.

They shoulda done that when it turned 1M...
I read an article a few years back about the guy who turned over 1M in his little volvo car - Volvo gave him a new one!
My 85 olds Cutlass Supreme had 300,000 on the clock before I got rid of it. It had the original motor and tranny it just wouldnt die. I sold it because I broke my upper control arm and I didnt want to tear into it. It still ran good when I sold it. I bought it from the orginal owner who lived in texas.
