the ford F650 trucks are supposed to be good for a million miles. compared to replacing the average truck every 250,000, $85,000 for a F650 supercrewzer is a good deal.
BTW, my 75 F250 wass running up past 250,000, then threw a rod in the original 390. I replaced it with a used 351 out of a LTD car, had 177,000 miles on the engine, its now up to 244,000 miles on that engine, and i havent even touched it since I dropped it in. i suppose I should change the oil and plugs? i guess that puts the chassis up around 325,000 miles.
My mom has an 00 F-250 lariat extended cab PSD, 6 speed with 348,871 miles on it. The only work done was a new line-x job in 03. The most weight in it was a 200 pound case of watermelons being hauled to the farmers market, and only because dad's van was in the shop. The F-250 still has the plastic on the rear seat. Our old chev express van had 231,xxx on it when the tranny went out.

Our highest milage truck is a 2000 7.3psd at 118k.
99 psd - 80k-ish
95 5.8 - 85k-ish
2000 f150 (my truck) 60k ish
01 v10 - uh.. around 40 i think
and my mother and sister both have pretty much brand new cars, less than 30 k on a camry and a corolla.
I had a 95 Camaro in high school when I got it it had 80,000 by the time I got rid of it two years later it had 250,000. Never burned a drop of oil, and purred like a kitten. I really abused that car spinning tires on every conner and racing any and everything that would dare. never did anything other than change the oil, filters, and stuff like that, oh and I washed it alot =).

RIght now I'm driving a 1988 E150 Club Wagon XLT. 302,000 miles on the top end of a 302, and 167ish on the bottom end (crank and bearings, PO didn't believe in maintenance).
I have 1997 F-150 4.6 w/ 177625k and it runs perfect changed plugs and wires at 173000. no problems just oil changes every 2500-3000k miles. Original trans that doesn't slip and hope it will last me until it is paid off in 4yrs. Got the annoying rear end squeak from the springs.
my 93 GMC has 244k on it.it stil runs pretty good although its getting tired now. my 95 harley has 142k on it, pretty high for a bike although I know a guy with 330 k on his electra glide.
also know a guy who drove the same 72 Impala for about 20 years, that car had in the high 300 k range before he finally gave up on it.I remember he wore out the rear end after all that time and just siad hell with it.
My 1988 F250 has 188,000 miles on the original engine and trans. It looks great and still runs strong. I change the oil every 3,000 miles and have it serviced at the dealership. I've had the truck for about ten years and it's never left me stranded. I put a deposit down on a 06 PSD CC 4WD Lariat and hope it gives me as much satisfaction as "Old Blue" has. It's going to be a sad day when I sell Blue.
I bought a 1980 F-100 Red/White demo, off of the local FORD dealer. It had 11,000 mles on it. The dealership used it to get parts, go to the mailbox, etc.
At 110,000 miles, the oil that was in it, broke down (Pennzoil, <that is what the dealership put in it, so I left it that way>). I took it to a local mechanic that I knew personally, and he re-built the engine. We started using Valvoline. I drove it for another 365,000 + miles, until I sold it and got a new 1993 Super-cab. My mechanic, bought it for his daughter to drive. I "know" that she drove it for another 3 years. Now someone else has it, as I see it from time to time. Don't know how many miles it has on it now, since I'm not sure who owns it now.
My wife has a '93 Explorer 4.0L auto with 205,000 miles on it, no major problems other than the transmission computer that went out about 3 years ago.
My daily commuter is a '94 Pontiac Grand Am 2.3L auto I bought in '96 with 40,000 miles, it now has just over 200,000 on it, and I drive it 80 miles one-way to work 4-5 days a week and still get 30-32 mpg. Worst things to happen to it were the front wheel bearings around 100,000 and the head gasket earlier this summer.
My last vehicle is my '99 Ranger 4.0L 5-sp. that has 145,000 miles on the odometer, and no major mechanical failures (knock on wood).
I plan on keeping all 3 as long as I can. I will always need a truck, and I need the Pontiac for the gas mileage right now. After my wife graduates pharmacy school, she plans to get a new car, and I hope to rebuild the Explorer (minor body damage, paint) and either lift it and put some larger tires and off-road it a bit, or turn it into a family vacation cruiser with a full entertainment package in it.
