BAck at home in Oregon I have a 1986 Subaru GL-10 turbo sedan with 319,000 on the original engine. HEads are not original, as I was having cooling problems with it and it turned out one of the heads was cracked (common on the turbo cars) but the bottom end has never been touched!
I've heard of a 92 Dodge Ram diesel that was used to haul trailers aroudn the country, and at 1,030,000 miles the speedometer broke!
MY grandfather has like 75,000 on his 96 F250 with no major problems!
and htose are all trailer miles!
Highest mileage....on any of our vehicles.....260,xxx is what the 94 mustang is at currently with the original 3.8L pushrod V6.
Highest mileage on any vehicle I have seen.....500,000 on my buddy's semi(pretty weak for a semi, I know) but any personal vehicle was 305,000 on a kid's Probe with a 4 cylinder.

my chev 5.7 has 360,000KMs without major overhauling, my 1989 ford f250 7.3IDI had almost 500,000Kms when i parked it (still runs perfect, tranny's gone, not much left of truck) and a guy i know has 2 old mail trucks with the 1990ish IDI 7.3's that both are over a million kilometers on the same bottom ends. (gone through a couple heads, etc)
The Ranger has had 1 clutch, a starter, and an alternator. Thats it. We haven't even changed the original water pump.
The F-150 I've owned for over a year, and the tranny finally went on me. I had been having problems with it, and one last play in the mud killed it. Still has reverse though!
The record for most miles on a personal car still belongs to Irv Gordon and his 1966 Volvo P1800. The last posting on the Irv-O-Meter was in March 06. The record now stands at 2.4 million miles and Irv says he will pass the 4 Million kilometer before the summer is over. You can read up on Irv and his P1800 at Volvo Club of America's web sight (VCOA) and look for the Irv-o-meter.
The highest milage I have ever seen on a ford is 750 000 km and the hiest ever was 2.9 million on an 88 freightliner. (but thats not too unbelivable on a transport)
ok changing an engine does not count. My dads 93 Aerostar 3.0 has over 300,000 on the original engine and trans. He did not even give it a tune up until hit 212,000. It is still going, he drives it everday. He was a sales rep, but now does other stuff, and the whole time he has driven this van it has always had a full load
