highest mileage ever?

What's the highest mileage you have ever seen in any vehicle, Ford or other? A fellow I work for has a 88 F-250 with a 351W at over 300,000 miles! Thats original engine, and automatic transmission. And this is a daily driven work truck!

highest mileage ever?

I won't win any high mileage contests, nor can I claim "original engine" but I like to tell the story about my daily driver anyway.
I purchased my 1990 F-150 in 1994 while a senior in High School. It had 39,888 miles on it then. I drove it to college, to work, dated my wife in it (back when we were just flutterpated). And at 180k I blew a head gasket. I took it to my cousin's shop and after measuring cylinder wear he advised that all it needed at the time was the gasket, but that within a year (I was driving 40k a year at the time) it would need a rebuild. So, I went for the full rebuild. It now has 225k on it (45k on rebuild)and is still running strong. My wife drives it regularly when her 1999 Dodge truck is at the dealer for repairs (thank God for warranties!)
This isn't an unusual story by any means, but I can't help but be proud of my truck. My wife has had 2 new vehicles and I refuse to get rid of my old truck (she needs something to drive while hers is in the shop anyway). I just can't help but wonder how long it might have gone without a rebuild if only I had taken better care of it when I was a dumb kid. Oh well, live and learn.

highest mileage ever?

My old car (now my girlfriend's) is an '88 Nissan Maxima (the original post said any make!) that now has 280,000 miles on the original engine/manual trans (VG30E engine, FWIW). I had it for over two years, sat for almost a year - no money for a clutch, now my girlfrind has had it almost 2 years. Had to have headwork a couple years ago, due to timing belt (ick) failure. Other than that, two clutches (still on the 2nd), front axles (FWD, CV boots/joints went bad), rack & pinion and tie rod ends r&r (again, boots/bushings went bad), new rotors all the way around, and new fuel injectors, all that has been done is oil changes, filters, gear oil, struts, water pump, tires and other wear items. If you notice, most of the non-maintenance replacements involved rubber parts deteriorating. Just replaced the radiator since the engine started running a little too hot for her liking. Best part is, she likes helping me work on her car, but not on my truck.. Oh well, can't win 'em all!

Engine still runs very strong, shifts nicely, handles great (aftermarket springs), gets 24 mpg. Not bad for $6000 five years ago, huh? Bummer was, I traded my Jeep Wrangler in for it.

My '88 Toyota Land Cruiser has 232,000 on the original engine, transmission, transfer case, and rear-end. Knock on wood, it may fall apart later today, but it has been a good one.

I currently have 89k and 146k. Not a drop of oil used. How many gm engines can say that??

The highest mileage truck I have ever driven was a 1987 Peterbilt with a 425? cat, overhauled, with 927k. I remember that! Otherwise the highest mileage truck I have ever driven was a 1992 F-250 diesel 5-speed with 211k.

I think that will go to my '85 Ford F-150 4x4. Otherwise known as 'Ol Blue. It was my favorite pickup, it had the 351 W H.O. in it, gas mileage was terrible but I ddin't care. I had that thing through heck an back and so did my dad. Well she had 245,000 on it whne she finally died on cold nite when I rolled her 4 1/2 times. Luckily I wasn't wearin my seat belt an neitehr was my friend and we were thrown from it, cab was touchin the seat.

Had many good memories with that pickup, now that engine is in a street rod.

Also got a "free" helicopter ride that nite to the emergency room.

My father just parked his 86 Dodge Dakota (not willingly) with 520,000 on the clock. Now, he did put another 3.9 and auto trans in (from a junk yard) at around 150,000 ,and even though that doesn't say all that much for the first engine and trans, it says a heck of a lot for the second. By the way the truck looked like it had more miles on it inside and out. If your ever around Aurora N.C.,you will have to ask about the red Dakota, they will know which one your talking about.

highest mileage ever?

The other day we had a "hotshot" truck come through our shop with some very high milage for the year. It was a 1998 Superduty diesel 2WD, and had 383,000 kms on it no mechanical work done other than routine maintenence! You'd be very hard pressed to tell the truck had 38,000 kms on it by looking at it.

Well my ol' pickup has 206,000 miles on it. It's on it's second clutch, and it's first valve job. It's first 200,000 miles were put on it by the original owner, towing race cars all over Texas. The next 6,000 miles were put on it by a teenager who tried his best to thrash it. (to no avail!!!) Now it's with me, the neat freak who has to always keep it tip top, and CLEAN! Which is a word this truck hasn't heard in a long time!

My 68 chevelle Malibu had 189,000 miles on the original 327 which my cousin blew. I put a 307 from a Nova with 100K on it already into the chevelle and drove it another 100K. Does that add up to 389000?

Seriously I just bought my 89F150 with 200,500 plus (speedo didn't work for a while with prev owner) and it runs like a clock. (Knock on Wood)Service records indicate that nothing but wear-items replaced.

Work van in the family...early 80's E-150, with original 300 I6. 3 rebuilds. 320,000+ miles. Still running when we sold it. Body was shot, but the motor was still good.

My neighbor has a dodge van, 70's model. It's been his only driver sence then. He has put several motors in it, and has been doing the body work for 20+ years. I'd hate to think how many coats of primer are on it. When you ask him how many miles are on it, "Ohhh, 400,000-500,000
