My first Ford Bronco II 86' had 176k when I traded her in she ran perfect 2.9L EFI V-6. My 1997 Taurus has 175k and it looks and runs just as good as a new one its been used for many bussiness trips. Then there is my Favorite 91' Bronco its huge and mostly origional 225k on her/him! People say only toyotas go forever what B.S. when I worked @ Toyota they came in every day with blown head gaskets one after another. Ive owned many Fords and maybe I'm lucky but I've never had a blown head gasket.
This thread makes me feel better --- I thought I had high mileage vehicles but they aren't. Chevy Caprice wagon with 165K miles and a newer engine with only 105K miles which I plan to take to 200K miles.
Hard to believe that most B-bodies with 350 are junk yards have around 150-160K mis. People hit some kind of a mental block where a car with that mileage has to be no good.
When I turned 16 in 1986 my parents gave me their 83 Chysler town& country wood paneled wagon, it had a mitsubishi 2.6L 4cyl in it. I gave it away in 96 with 330,000 miles on it. It had a new head put on at 150K or so, great car, it talked "a door is ajar", "your fuel is low", "engine oil pressure is low", the ladies loved it...
My 93 just turned over 180k. I know its not a lot but that says a lot of trips back and forth to college up by Columbus and Cincinnati.
O and its a auto go figure

At this moment, my 1980 F-150 has 198k on the stock inline 300cid engine. As a matter of fast, as far as I can tell, most of the truck is stock, although, as soon as I move, I'm gonna do some serious replacing of parts. Mainly just the stuff that wears out, not a major rebuild. My truck has character, and I would never want to lose that, or the 1 1/16 craftsman wrench that was welded on in place of my shifter.
i recently saw a civic 1988 with 289,000 on the clock. i noticed because it was for sale, pretty clean, all stock, and i was interested in it as a beater. I'm not into that 'imports live forever' mentality...its all about maintenance, so I thought the $2,000 asking price was too high for me (although i'm sure they wont have trouble selling it).
another honda i saw was a crx or whatever they're called. same thing, need a beater, clean body, and the guy on the phone tells me it has 190,000 on the clock. i was interested in it because of the small engine, MPG, and it was very clean so i start throwing drama at him about it being 'kinda high'. he tells me thats nothing for a honda! (190,000!!!)...then he tells me, in his strong accent (couldn't even place it, but i think asian) in a salesman type pitches all this about how great japanese engines are. so to convince me its great he emphasized its actually only 90,000 on a new engine. so i'm impressed, until i ask "do you have receipts?" I got an answer worse than a 'no'...he said 'yes, i do myself...new engine fery goot'...he did a change-out, and he has receipts? then he said 'no receipt, i do it very goot"
this guy was trying too hard to sell a nice car, and the fact that i doubt he can even pronounce any internal engine component, let alone assemble it, made me not buy it.
I have some expirence with high mileage vehicles
1990 Ford F-350 215,000 new clutch at 195k
1990 Toyota Previa minivan 205k
1982 Toyota 4x4 pickup 315k
We have a lot of work trucks that must have 2-400k but all bought used so no telling how many times they have rolled over.
Guinnes book of world record 1993 has a VW bug at 1,402,515
I have to say thow that for consistently high mileage nothing touches over the road big rigs. There are many of these that turn over 1,000,000 miles with no major breakage.
I had a 95 F-150 302 4speed auto and it had over 500,000 miles on it. I read in the guinnes book of records though that there was a volvo that hav 1,682,000 miles on it

We go through a lot of transmissions and clutches, well for the new drivers, the older guys shift without the clutch.
I heard on the TV a few years ago when they were promoting the new VW beatle that an old VW bug had the highest milage ever with out any major repairs including rebilds. It was used as a taxi somewere in Mexico. I dont remeber how many miles but it was in the multi millions.
I have 160k miles on my 1990 F-250 with 460 and an E4OD which isnt the highest but you have to consider this truck was driven by 3 teenagers and is still being driven by me, i weight 225 half of which is in my right foot. this is all with the original engine and tranny
